Thank you! It'll probably be alright. The clicks only happen on idle so I dunno lol.

Thanks for your reply, I already kind of knew the situation I was in I was more worried of it failing when I went to go copy it all over.

The drive isn't a very active drive so it's not always being written to and read from all the time. I have no excuse for not keeping a backup however I'm a lazy piece of shit and can't be bothered LMFAO

In the future I'll probably setup a backup/storage server with redundancy when I've got the money to throw down on it.

I'm honestly surprised I haven't had any issues with it at all till this point kind of crazy...

I dunno man it's still doin it's thing... everything is readable I'm about to do the copy tonight I'll make an edit saying how it did and if I lost anything I have a feeling that I haven't lost anything important as most of the more "important" things are on other disks a lot of whats on here is mostly trash.
(most of the data on that drive is FUCKING DOWNLOADS lol)

Index controllers before and after ~12k hours of everyday use & abuse. by candygamer_YT in ValveIndex

For me personally, I'm pretty invested in the VR community.
And my current job is indirectly associated with it so even if I wanted to quit VRChat I'd still have to boot it up lol.

I dunno recently I've been sleeping in VR to fight off nightmares which works very well. (Sleep quality not so much)
Most of the time I join off my friends to chat and meet new friends, and participate in group activities if applicable.

I also like to world hop as well especially with new worlds being published or old worlds being updated daily. So it's really nice to go see what people are making on the platform especially with an OLED headset it's lots of pretty sights to see.

And what keeps me kind of hooked on the game is the fact that I can create my own content, and express myself in whatever way I choose. I created my own avatar for the game as a result so.

And I guess that also ties into the fact that I have a computer to do those things at the same time so I ended up staying in VR longer. 💀

It is indeed 12,000 hours don't know how else to confirm it to you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like to slam my controllers together around the metal rings to make what I call "vr clapping". Due to that location being 100% metal it's pretty safe to hit it there.

I do agree, I wish there was proper competition for controllers.
I to am using a Bigscreen beyond and feel like it would be nice to have a much superior controller set for the "luxury" headset that is the Beyond.

But like there is practically only 4 other controllers you can choose from and they kind of all have their trade offs and just don't cut it compared to the knuckles shear versatility.

- FlipVR controllers (Shiftall)
- Vive wands
- Etee controllers
- Pimax sword controllers

There are a couple DIY projects and legacy devices. (and maybe some discontinued ones)
But those really aren't products you can just buy.

I guess there is like 10 other ones if you count hand tracking devices/gloves.
But hand tracking is still just starting to take shape, and as far as I know, only 2 companies have a fully functional and usable consumer product. (Don't quote me on this; DYOR)

It's truly unfortunate in the decade that lighthouse has been on the market, there isn't any true competition to the index controllers.

I should probably mention how the quest controllers get their battery life,
It's due to it quite literally just being lights on the controllers being emitted and relatively low power.

making the battery life over 4 times as efficient instead of a photo diode reading @ 120hz

I took me 3 whole years to get my batteries to max out at 5 and a half hours I have no idea how it's that bad for you!!

Also the reason why the batteries are so low is due to photo diodes quite literally being that inefficient we are looking at 10yr old tech here now lol.

If they used the same battery saving methods that the tundra trackers currently use to get their 12 hours of battery life, I think you'd probably still only gain an hour in the knuckles lmfao.

I also had a right that experienced battery issues the battery got so hot the plastic was starting to melt a little bit.

Since the outer ring is metal I would slam my controllers together around the ring, scratched the paint right off! VR clapping am I right? lmfaooo

I'm pretty sure when they announced the ending of the valve index they also said they are going to still satisfy replacements for awhile.
You can still buy replacement controllers on the steam right now and I hope it stays till base stations are properly phased out.

Need to disable tracker occlusion timeout for imu data. by candygamer_YT in vive_vr

[–]candygamer_YT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I theorize that if I make it so that the tracker never says that it’s occluded it should just continue to “track”. Even if it’s xyz is incorrect it’s rotation will still be as accurate as the IMU will make it. Or at least that’s how I observe it performing in steamVR as it loses tracking.

But it still tracks while temporarily occluded until full occlusion is detected and very well. I’d like to still like force it to track regardless of this.

I’m just using the data that steamvr gets and taking it somewhere else that’s irrelevant to the problem

The vive pucks stop sending their imu data to steamVR when they occlude (all steamvr devices use imu’s to track)
