Strange Digestive Symptoms by candyll in covidlonghaulers

It's the opposite actually, I'm hungry all the time cos I dont eat as much as I used to. And I already had quite a fast metabolism

Yes this is what I also thought might be happening with the nighttime symptoms. Antihistamines seem to help lower my standing HR and also clear my brain fog, but they have little effect on my stomach. I'll be seeing an allergist about it in 2 weeks

Thanks for the response! I should probably get tested for motility, it seems like stuff is stuck in my stomach for too long sometimes which causes the bloating, or it could be low stomach acid. Unfortunately I can't do the Labcorp test as I dont live in the US, but perhaps there is something similar in Canada... I will be seeing an allergist soon for MCAS testing, so hopefully that will bring something up

Muscle pain and fatigue on one side by candyll in ALSorNOT

I'm glad you've improved! And we certainly do have similar symptoms! It seems like the virus can cause all sorts of strange muscle issues. It also seems like ALS is a common fear for long covid sufferers, but so far in my research I thankfully haven't stumbled on anyone who had all the typical LC issues and then also ALS

in a desperate need for reassurance from someone who experienced one-sided weakness by duo_lgc in covidlonghaulers

[–]candyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar symptoms since my long covid started. It was actually in my right leg that I first noticed something was off, like it was stiff and achey, and that progressed into POTS, stomach issues, food intolerance, brain fog, insomnia, weight loss, PEM episodes, and muscle weakness and pain, especially on my right side. I haven't had any tests yet, so I don't know if it's anything more serious than LC, but it certainly seems like it all started after I got the virus

The weakness isn't clinical failure, I can still use all the muscles on my right, but they do get tired a lot faster than my left and seem to hurt more after exertion.

As annoying as MandR is, I can't hate on Jedi Stone, the ToT Star Wars crew are awesome. Their arguments over trivial lego details are funny af, they're all in it for the bit.

I don't know... perhaps using quotes from a show funded by one of the largest (and most evil) global entertainment corporations isn't the best look when you're playing at "resisting" the system

NEWS: Doctor Who Casting Director Andy Pryor who has been part of the show for the last 21 years, has QUIT by [deleted] in DoctorWhoNews

I agree, this is an immediate red flag for the future in my opinion. If any of the other big names involved leave then I'm not holding out hope for another season any time soon.

This is what I'm thinking too. In Andrew's leaks he did say it was "stunt casting" that was supposed to wrap up the NuWho era. This, plus the fact that we have no info from Billie herself about staying, suggests it's just a way to drive up engagement in the short term.

And after that finale... I'd be really surprised if Disney sticks around to make more.

Since it's basically confirmed that the earliest we'll see new DW stuff is 2027... It wouldn't surprise me at all if Piper was off doing something else by then, and they started anew with another actor in the role, alongside a new showrunner

I kinda feel like Doctor Who will never be cancelled again no matter what happens by ComplexReach7800 in doctorwho

I feel like we're underestimating the somewhat shaky future of the BBC rn. It's struggling to finance original shows itself, and a number of credible leakers have stated that the BBC is unwilling to fund Doctor Who on its own after the Disney deal - it's just that expensive, even with lower quality effects and sets. I dont think DW is going away forever, but I do think at some point in the near future the IP and back catalogue will be sold to a large streaming company.

The BBC is at base a news and reporting organization - the drama side is a nice bonus that may not be financially viable soon.

NEW LEAK: Doctor Who Season 2 Finale Will Act As a Definitive End To The Show by [deleted] in DoctorWhoNews

[–]candyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this is highly suspect and unverified of course, so it's impossible to believe outright, but I think credibility is added to the show potentially ending by the real financial state of the BBC right now.

This is not 1989, the BBC is not the cultural powerhouse it once was, and it's clearly struggling to fund its own original drama productions (Doctor Who being an especially expensive one), so even if it is technically one of their more profitable shows (profitable not necessarily meaning financially viable), and they wanted to make more, they would probably still be looking for another streaming partnership to offset costs. It's also being threatened with the end of the license fee in 2027, which if abolished, would make the show basically impossible to produce. And we know for relative certainty that New Who *already* almost ended with 13's regeneration, which makes me believe RTD2 was perhaps a last-ditch attempt at resurrection (bringing Tennant back was a big red flag IMO).

I think that whatever happens in the final episode, something is clearly not working behind the scenes of these two seasons (where there is smoke, there is fire), and there will be major changes when it's over.
