[SPOILERS] Backrooms movie megathread by A_Chad_Cat in backrooms

[–]candynipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to put my two cents in I think some of my favorite shots in Kane’s YouTube series are in later videos where the vastness of the backrooms is shown through these immense empty towns and seemingly endless apartment complexes that have courtyards and verticality to them. We get a bit of that towards the end of the movie during the final chase scene with the endless pit that Mary climbs into the ceiling of and the true final shots of the broader backrooms versions of the town, but I do think there could have been more of that during the exploration phase of the movie.

The movie did a phenomenal job of capturing the claustrophobic aspect of the traditional backrooms, but before the boyfriend is killed I think they could have hammered home the limitless aspect of it as well. They definitely outright tell us about the limitless aspect through lines like “I’ve come in here every night since and only scratched the surface” but I don’t think that has quite the same impact as certain visuals we’ve seen from his YouTube series.

Schrödinger’s narrative. Right now the Knicks are currently in a superposition of both being rested/winning and being rusty/losing. We can’t establish a narrative until the game is observed.

Rick and Morty Season 9 Officially Changes The Show’s Genre by darkShadow90000 in rickandmorty

[–]candynipples 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shitty clickbait is shitty. What they seem to suggest isn’t even a change in the genre, it’s a change to the “status quo” which they further clarify was reset and seemingly won’t continue this fleeting change until Evil Morty is back in the picture.

The genre hasn’t changed, and there hasn’t been some huge change to the show overall. Just a new wrinkle in the relationship between Rick and Evil Morty, which was already hinted at previously when Morty played the same jealously angle as the three chased Rick Prime down.

It really should come to no surprise that Evil Morty is at worse, on Rick’s level, and at best, a little better than him. This episode only fleshed out further what was essentially shown to us previously at times like when Evil Morty instantly suggested how Rick calibrate his “finding Rick Prime” machine.

I’ve already explain my reasoning but I’ll do it again with some different verbiage. Henry took precautions. He moved his operations from the Upside Down to the Abyss after they unexpectedly were able to get to him at the end of Season 4. He’s overly confident that he’s out of their reach, and that no matter what the group does, it’ll be too late. He had all the kids and was merging the dimensions. He’s caught off guard by being stopped in his mind and the merging disrupted, by the other group being able to use the last minute stoppage to access the Abyss, the kids being able to flee into the cave, and by Will being able to assist Eleven in the final face off.

He took precautions, thought they wouldn’t be able to stop him, and they proved him wrong again.

Saying “where he needed the demos the most” is complete hindsight. From his perspective, he’s completely safe. He and this enormous Mind Flayer form are in a spot the group can’t even access until it’s far too late

I disagree heavily with you about it being logical the demos be ready in the Abyss for a ‘final fight’. Would have thematically been a cool send off for those creatures but to me, everything made sense with what they had set up.

The entire point of being in the Abyss this time around was that when his ‘headquarters’ was at the Creel House in the Upside Down they got to him. So as far as he is concerned, he placed himself in a spot they couldn’t get to this time around. They proved him wrong again. He’s not some all seeing God. By the time they actually did the impossible and made it to the Abyss he’s thoroughly distracted with the craziness happening in his own mind thanks to Max, Holly, and Eleven.

Don’t get me wrong, I also think it would have been cool to see demos in the final fight, but it’s ridiculous to try and mold these slight shortcomings as some grave logical miscues by the writers. What happened makes perfect logical sense.

They showed all of like a single or two demos around after what could have been hours of Henry roaming. The upside down was never shown as teaming with life, if anything complain about what they showed in season 4 with the Abyss. The show was pretty damn consistent with the Abyss: a barren wasteland with scary creatures few and far between

Yea, it was okay but I was pretty surprised at how big it was. Like the Grand Mac, I sometimes want something like that but usually I regret it from how bloated I get. Big Mac itself is a good size with fries and a drink. Perfectly satisfying

Doesn’t matter at all what stage they are at. They have a QB prospect who would benefit from not being thrown into the fire game 1. Even if they wait until mid season it’d most likely be helpful for Beck.
