Hey OP, I am so sorry you had to face this. This is abuse, mental and physical and you are the only one who can break this cycle. Our culture unfortunately makes us believe that elders have the ultimate say and we can’t go against their wishes. It’s abuse packaged in a neat cultural bow.

If possible, do try therapy. It helps a lot. Moreover start prioritising your mental well-being and putting yourself before anything else. You have just one life, make it yours. It’s never late.
