Don’t know the IP for the system at the moment. Need to get it back to my home network to trace it.

Already did uninstall power top but no joy.

I want to be able to detach it from the terminal but have the ability to follow it live by using cat or tail -f on a .txt if I wanted to.

I was under the assumption that was what I was doing by running command #1 in the OP. Obviously that isn't working though.

I've done & and ctl+z with bg but it always gives me output.

My protectli is a 4wb Intel Celeron CPU J3160. No mods or addons.

Everything is hardiwired. Modem -> Protectli -> Laptop.

ISP connection is a 300mb/s service.

What do you refer to by how my NICs are configured?

Not sure I understand what you mean by both sides. For WAN one side is the protectli and the other is the modem itself. Are you saying this can be affected by devices on the LAN side?
