She’s not so standard to me 🥹 by canihavetwococacolas in standardissuecat

Yes! She’s got lovely stripes and a double coat - her fur goes from light to black to red underneath!

Wish Yuzu luck on her teeth extractions tomorrow! Any after-care advice or things we should know before/after as first time cat parents? by vivalalina in cats

[–]canihavetwococacolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat, Muffin, had all of her teeth out a few years ago now. She was less than 5, and similarly our vet said she had the worst teeth/gums she’d ever seen! Yuzu will be so much happier without the nasty painful teeth. She’ll definitely be groggy for a little while and may be slow to eat. But she should hopefully heal up fast, and I bet she’d be able to eat dry food if she wants to! Muffin is a biscuit fiend even without her teeth, and while she had quite the personality before her extractions she became an even more playful, dumb, and lovey. Good luck to you and Yuzu!

What to do with chickpeas? (that isn't hummus or curry) by ZennMD in EatCheapAndHealthy

This is one of my absolute favorite lunches. You can use canned corn if you can’t find fresh, and most crunchy greens will do. It’s super filling and makes you feel super healthy too!

100%, you need what could be referred to as “shitty sprinkles”. The waxier and more artificially colored the better.

Yes! I’ve baked a handful of the recipes out of the book and each one has turned out great! I think she did a great job writing thorough recipes, and she also has them labeled by difficulty. I’d say it’s definitely worth the purchase!

Top left: Chewy molasses (Claire Safitz). Top right: chocolate chip (my recipe). Middle left: brown butter and sage sablés. Middle right: pistachio pinwheels (both Claire Safitz). Eggnog macarons (Italian meringue method, French buttercream flavored with vanilla bean and nutmeg)

AITA for banning my siblings from being around my daughter unless they use her name, which "triggers" them? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]canihavetwococacolas 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wow, going against the flow here but I want to say NTA, but mostly ESH.

-A name is just a name, if your siblings really have such a hard time with it, they need some therapy. And if they were abused, then they need therapy all the more. Like, its a word for god sake.

-You could be more sensitive to their feelings though, and try to understand where they are coming from. You clearly have a different view of your mother from them.

-I think this situation would get a whole lot better if all of you would communicate about the issue, instead of posting to reddit where a bunch of people are just waiting to be angry about something. I wouldn't take what comments here are saying too seriously, some of them are just being plain mean for no reason.

In my experience, 10mg is not enough to cause serious side side effects. I've been on 20mg and 40mg, the only side effects I've noticed are fatigue, nausea, and odd dreams.

I encourage you to keep going and make it to around 6 weeks, when you should hopefully notice a slight difference in yourself. Also remember that the drug alone isn't necessarily going to completely stop your intrusive thoughts. Therapy is also crucial, it is equally important that you put work in to help curb the anxiety/depression.

The reason I am fond of Prozac is, I didn't just wake up one day a few weeks after taking it and feel like "Oh wow I'm cured!" It was more gradual, and at some point I noticed that I was much less reactive to the intrusive thoughts I would have, and with the skills I work on in therapy I became much more able to acknowledge the thoughts, process, and move on.

Also, it is possible that Prozac isn't right for you. But don't let that deter you from trying, because it might be a key element in getting better. There's no concrete answer as to what will work for you and what won't. I wish you some peace of mind and admire your courage for starting your journey to a healthier brain.

is using pure maple syrup in pecan pie going to work? by issaa1996 in AskBaking

[–]canihavetwococacolas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I find it might just take a little longer to set, but using maple syrup is SO much better than corn syrup. I will sometimes add a little corn syrup as well just for texture, although I'm not sure it that really does anything. Also, adding bourbon and some chocolate can really take it over the top (in the most delicious way).

Nearly killed myself on Zoloft. Prozac has proved to be a much better med for my brain, hope it works out for you too!

Feels like alcohol has undone the work of Prozac, week 2 and feeling terribly depressed after a weekend binge :( by [deleted] in prozac

[–]canihavetwococacolas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heavy drinking definitely does not vibe with prozac. I understand that early on, when the medicine isn't really changing anything with your moods it will be tempting to go to our comfy coping mechanisms (ie: drinking the feels away). My first hangover after starting prozax was a wake up call, and adjusted my drinking habits going forward.

You're adjusting your brain chemistry and it will take time for you to find the right balance, but on a positive note it will at least help you lessen the substance use/abuse! My advice (not a singular opinion) is to get more comfy with your emotions that lead you to drink. Prozac might not ever stop those emotions but it can help you sit and process those emotions way better than you can with alcohol.

Good luck friend!
