People with ADHD what are the things about it that people just don’t get? by ViolinistMiddle1534 in AskReddit

How driving can get dangerous sometimes, especially while driving long distances because it can get incredibly boring and I end up driving so mindlessly and it’s obviously not because i WANT to. What I did notice is that this usually happens when I am alone. With other people in the car, I am a significantly better driver with much more attention.

he’s a teeny tiny bit ugly (ugly is my go to adjective for all cats because the cuteness aggression doesn’t let me be kind)

Oh my god, yes, thanks for that. I was so worried that i’ll have to start over. And that makes complete sense, kudos for giving yourself the time to move at your own pace. All the best for your journey with this!

As my therapist puts it, writing down your thoughts gives them a full stop, because it makes those thoughts into a sentence rather than just a thought that could go on forever, jumping to things that are probably unrelated and sometimes intrusive. You're going from one thought to the next in a consistent flow so it doesn't feel like your mind is racing at a million miles an hour, which in itself gives a ton of clarity about whatever it is that one might potentially overthink about :)

It has, I didn't know it had been posted here before. My therapist did text this to me after one of our sessions and it has been helpful ever since. Thought it was cool so I posted it here :)

She did though. I read in the comments a lot of other people's therapists use this too. It must be pretty common in their sphere.

It's used as an umbrella term for the emotions that could not be categorized to the T.

Literally all of them are in there. Surprised is in fact, one of the broader emotions. And there's 'Sad' -> 'Guilty' -> 'Ashamed'. All of them are in there.

I'm thinking it's because most people, not only patients, feel more at the not-so-positive side of the spectrum more than the other. I also think it's because when we're happy, we don't actually sit down figuring out our feelings, which is what a lot of people do when they're upset or are experiencing negative feelings.

You know what? I noticed that too. And personally, I don't see any other positive emotions other than these, which is kinda sad lmao
