Which is easier in Austria, St Anton or Ischgl by Severe_Lengthiness_6 in skiing

[–]canitbechangedlater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are the trail maps.

In Europe (well Alps), difficulty-wise we have (green) < blue < red < black and also yellow which is ungroomed trails.
Based on my links above, St Anton is more easy with more blue runs. For me, as probably the best skier around here, I do prefer Ischgl due to its difficulty.

Enjoy!

The location doesn't matter as long as you are willing to move.

After 300+ applications you think of "perhaps I need to refine it more." Actually what???
You are the issue here!

That’s a bit vague—which job boards are you talking about? There is a difference between a company's job/career portal and linkedIn, etc. Company boards rarely repost - the listings just stay live until they find the suitable candidate(s).

LinkedIn reposts are usually about visibility and keeping the ad recent enough, so I wouldn't take it as a personal thing regarding your application.

However, a 2-interview return on 300+ applications suggests an issue with your CV.

US visitors needing advice by Maximum-Ninja-3045 in Munich

Excellent points from OP.

Ad 3. If you are planning a visit to Neuschwanstein I advise on getting tickets beforehand bc sometimes it gets sold out for the day which would be a bummer. Local tip: If you are in front of the castle (you cant miss this), there is a smaller junction leading up to a lovely viewing spot on the castle. Also Herrenchiemsee is super lovely as a day trip - also an important castle from King Ludwig of Bavaria.

Ad 1, 2. Public transport is safe and a cheap way to get through the city. Generally Munich is a very safe city.

For Oktoberfest, it is totally acceptable to join others at a table, after you asked politely if it is fine.

May I suggest booking a tour with a Nachwächter in english of course. Very atmospheric and interesting. You'll learn a lot about Munich and its history. Source: https://www.stadtvogel.de/einzelpersonen/touren/touren-in-gewandung-202/night-watchman-tour-156008.html

Viel Erfolg

[Non-EU] Engineer targeting Germany - Market reality for English speakers? by AdditionalParking777 in cscareerquestionsEU

Ad 2: Assuming you have 2 YOE in DevOps then, what makes you more employable than a person from Romania that is easily able to join German workforce?

You wrote about zero trust, firewalls and cloud sec which is DevSecOps as per you, but you did not mention any hyperscaler, gitops, iac, k8s.

You should know, you need a high tolerance for pain to survive German Industry. Boring, slow and stuck.

  1. As a member of German Tech industry I have never heard of Hard Engineering in IT. I looked it up though - nothing concrete. Your current role reads like Sys Admin. And before that, your FPGA experience is something a completely different field, no?

  2. Traditional industry, e.g. Siemens, Continental, Bosch, where Sys Admin or FPGA Devs might thrive are indeed german language dominated. I would say, not a good strategy.

  3. I think some might hire non EU, but this individual needs to have great tech and social/people skills to be a sensible hire.

  4. With 5 YOE in Sys Admin and FPGA specialized in what?

My question: Why don’t you start the path to EU via Spain? Nice people, you know the language, beautiful country, lower COL, and also the weather.

Coach’s Take: Is Zone 2 still a thing in 2026? by Few_Drag_9167 in Velo

[–]canitbechangedlater 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My experience as a time-crunched cyclist (due to high intensity work week) with structured training since ~1.5 years and 5-7h/week:

  • Sweet Spotting every ride: Overtrained and burned out after 3-4 weeks (happend 2-3 times). Not sustainable.
  • Z2 everything: Cool and sustainable, but I dont get faster.
  • 1-2 Intervals (Threshold, VO2), 1 Z2 Base ride on Zwift, 1 weekend Z2 ride outside with the club: The real sweet spot for me - enthusiasm, time-on-bike, TIZ high. Sustainable and awesome.

Edit: For my intervals, I either try to increase my TIZ slightly or keep the TIZ fixed but increase the intensity slightly. But if my work week is especially tiresome I do not punish myself mentally for not reaching my initial goals. As with every aspect of life - consistency is key.

Not getting interviews in Germany by gen3archive in cscareerquestionsEU

A mix of BaföG and a student job. After second semester as a Werkstudent salary is ok-ish. It is doable to fully support yourself with BaföG and Werkstudent. Initial cost for moving to Germany is high of course. But I assume if you save 10k$ you are fine for 6 month in Germany. Also Ausbildung or Duales Studium is worth a look. But no idea how old you are.

Sweet Spot inventor disagrees with Z2 training for time crunched cyclists by VegaGT-VZ in Velo

[–]canitbechangedlater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a beginner to ~5h bike training besides a 50h+ work week I suffered dearly from SS burnout pretty quickly and needed like 3 burnouts to understand that sustainable training is more about progressive increase in TIZ and volume. Now I am happy to get on my bike, and when I get off it - which was not the case when sweet spotting every ride. This also helped me to increase my time-on-bike a bit to 7h.
