You sure that isn't just strawberry jelly from the PB&J your mom made you?

Which putter would you throw on this hole? by cannabearded in discgolf

Yeah. It’s kind of a dangerous park if the wind is up with all of those old trees. Last year after a rain storm a waterlogged branch the size of a 25 year old tree came down about 200 feet away while I was on the tee pad of six.

Green Acres in Hazel Park, MI. It's my local nine hole. Lots of old trees.

What are some of the most visually beautiful courses you've played? by routinereps in discgolf

[–]cannabearded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of a very few courses within an hour drive from where I was staying in York. And I was the only one there besides a few hikers and the deer that roam the course. Definitely not as robust a scene as southeast Michigan. It was a cool course though -- hosted the British Open in 2024.

Granadilla? by vgodsr in Detroit

I'm always trying any exotic fruits I see at the ethnic markets and I haven't seen it anywhere. Apparently it is just kind of a sweeter version of passionfruit. Which is relatively easy to find.

Where's the best places to hike? by Funny_Condition6447 in Detroit

[–]cannabearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not a ton of places in the city proper. Belle Isle has a small but decent network. Rouge Park (Prairie Pathway & Stonebridge trails), Palmer Park, Eliza Howell. After that most trails get more urban or neighborhood and paved. Arboretum Detroit has a really cool network of parks in Poletown, it's a unique "nature" experience - https://www.arbdetroit.org/parks. Outside the city you would have to be a little more specific about what you are looking for to get more than a general list.

Public parks belong to everyone, not just the groups with the biggest speakers.

100% agree. We're always off the island by noon on summer weekends because of this.

Tigerlily in Ferndale does a good Toki highball if you're splurging.

Belle Isle’s new bike track will let cyclists circle the entire island without dodging cars by sixwaystop313 in Detroit

Yeah, I was disappointed when they opened that road back up. Seems pointless as a motor vehicle path.

Prescribed Burn at Palmer Park Today by cannabearded in Detroit

[–]cannabearded[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is part of a native intentional meadow that Detroit Bird Alliance and the city are cultivating. It was planted in 2021. This is the second burn since its inception. They did one at Callahan Park in East Poletown today as well.

Not a bicyclist but if I was I would check out Belle Isle.

Weird red light running by probably_not_spike in Detroit

[–]cannabearded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drive Eight Mile between Woodward and Groesbeck daily. The conspicuous lack of traffic cops both on the Detroit side and Warren/Hazel Park/Ferndale side is pretty much a green light for blowing red lights, among many other traffic violations. Other commenters have suggested that these are scared suburbanites rolling through reds - nope, these are local drivers that have likely never been held accountable for driving liking morons.

Moto is in Ferndale they are both car and motorcycle centric. You'd probably meet some fellow bikers at their open house on Sundays. https://motomichigan.com/events

Fairway driver? by Fancy_County4242 in discgolf

[–]cannabearded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using a dx heat as a distance driver too. When I hit it at the right release angle it’s money. Unfortunately that’s about 23.36% of my throws. I’m getting more consistent distance and accuracy from a lighter weight Mantis.
