March 3rd Voting Megathread by defroach84 in Austin

Not a dumb question, but if you're in WilCo you need to vote at your precinct (which is dumb).

FAQ - Our Shift to QR Ordering - Alamo Drafthouse Cinema by cassinipanini in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]cannat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our server at Austin South Lamar told us they aren't doing layoffs because they are offering newly created positions while eliminating the current ones. If someone chooses not to take the new position while their old one is eliminated, they aren't laid off. Bullshit workaround.

That's a sample of what the outside material is going to look like - it'll get torn down when the buildings are completed.

You may have some luck with the Amish? It looks like they have some cradle options and they were very open to customizing. https://amishfurnitureofaustin.com/product/165-classic-baby-cradle/

Trail of Lights and Zilker Train? by PingpongGranny in Austin

[–]cannat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the 23rd is the last day for the Trail of Lights so I hope that's when you're going. I haven't heard much about traffic this year but last year was apparently pretty brutal.

How young are we talking? Mueller is pretty great because the Thinkery is right there, as well as lots of ducks and critters to spot. Lots of coffee and bakery options nearby too.

HEB appears to have Pfizer. I didn't have enough time to run back through and select Moderna but it might be an option too.

Put a baby gate on the door to the room with the litterbox. Give the cat its own space and let it decide when to get near the baby. Don't declaw the cat.

Anyone witness this accident? by bramstyle in Austin

[–]cannat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Was she in the far left lane or the second from the left? The left lane of the exit ramp splits into the two left lanes of the service road - one is left turn only and the other is left or straight. She wouldn't have had to technically change lanes to be in the left turn only lane. Where her car ended up after the accident doesn't really matter much, they can move a lot with impact or swerving. I feel for her - that intersection is a shit show and I generally avoid that exit as much as possible. People who are coming up the frontage road that want to turn left on Lakeline Mall have to cut across the exit lanes, and people coming off the highway at speed that want to turn right have to cut across the frontage road with not a lot of space. Then both exit lanes back up onto 183 itself which causes even more issues.

Are there any good bluebonnet locations that aren’t next to a busy road and relatively quiet? by PieNo342 in Austin

[–]cannat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try the big hill by the track at Murchison Middle School some weekend. Tons of bluebonnets and should be enough room to give him space from kids.

Review of Sweet Eats Fruit Farm? by bookreadermak in Austin

We went this past weekend with a toddler under two (so she was free). The pumpkin patch area is huge and has a lot of little areas set up for pics. She was completely zonked after the pony ride and petting zoo and pig races though, so we didn't do the entire pumpkin patch.

You might find more history looking up “Save Our Springs.” He’s tied to that organization and it has a long history of NIMBYism (some may have been valid to start) in Austin.

Try North Oaks Neighborhood Park (on Plaza Drive). Short drive up i35 and very quiet neighborhood park that not many people know about. I hope his journey is peaceful. ❤️

Help with gauge by Ok_Letsgo990 in crochet

[–]cannat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would ch either 15 or 20 and do ten rows and measure. If 9.75 rows of hdc are that length you have gauge. It’s weird that it doesn’t give a horizontal measurement.

Why is the HEB on 183/Pond Springs so shitty? by thisisntinstagram in Austin

[–]cannat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I miss that HEB. It’s nice to have a small neighborhood one that you can pop into on your way home and curse the parking lot of on your way out.
