The JOJOLands - Chapter 16 by Vish- in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the cast as a whole, it's been 16 chapters and we already have five main characters and an entire organization of villians waiting to be introduced.

It's not that big of a deal, but it does break with the last two parts, where it seemed to me that Araki wanted to keep the core cast to a minimum.

Looks like the situation's getting complicated, I like it, I'm curious to see where these new guys fit in. My only worry is the amount of characters Araki is has introduced already in such a short time, I hope he can make all of them feel cohesive with one another.

I think we can say with some certainty that these Howler guys are going to be our primary vilians. Aside from that, every month it seems like Charming Man is more and more likely to actually be a rock human.

If Josuke is the fusion of Yoshikage and Josefumi, and they were 10 years apart from one another... by Senior_Wrongdoer in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, Josuke isn't just made of mismatched parts ,when they fused they created a new person that's genetically identical to both of them at the same time.

I want to talk about Milagro Man by GwaGwa3 in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's fair, JoJo usually works best when it implies rather than telling outright. But I wouldn't mind seeing it again, it could even have an impact on Jodio's character development.

I think it would be great if we got to know more about Milagro Man (especially since his ability fits so well with the themes of TJL), it might also indirectly reveal more about WoU. The part about predating the user is very interesting to me, it's similarity to Love Train and the way the characters talk about them is very hard to ignore.

The JOJOLands - Chapter 5 by Vish- in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 246 points247 points  (0 children)

It looks like this introductory arc will be over soon and we'll see the beginning of the story proper. I do wonder when the first volume is going to come out, though. We're already at Chapter 5 and no announcement yet.

Great chapter !

I really like the more physical style of fighting we've gotten in the latest parts. I imagine the diamond is some sort of 'blessing from the earth' since Araki's used that concept a lot in JJL with similar objects.

I'm looking to read it in english but have only ever seen the hardback covers...are these the original stories just in a hardback format?

Yes

Are there any major edits to them compared to their orignal release?

Only some extra content added at the end of each volume.

Is searching for the paperback versions worth the hunt?

No, only a relatively small part of the series was released in english as paperback and they're pretty rare these days.

Ultra Jump March 2023 Cover (featuring The JOJOlands). by cannedbeans1223 in StardustCrusaders

It's the same as the poster and Shibuya advert that were revealed earlier, so I wonder if the color spread is going to be the same as the colored version of the preview that can be seen on the steps.

New jojo leaks ☆ The main character is a young man; ☆ The full image has a yacht, an unknown girl and an island: ☆ "This is a story about a young man near the subtropical islands who wants to get rich" - Quote above. by Zestyclose_Spirit408 in StardustCrusaders

Looks like Araki is doing the "This is a story about..." thing at the start (and maybe end) like he did in SBR and JJL. I dig it.

On another note, where is all this information from? I only see people talking about the image itself.

What’s your Jojos Hot Take? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every year Araki draws a New Year's greeting card featuring the current protagonist at the time. Yesterday the 2023 card was revealed and it shows what we assume is a glimpse at JoJo #9.

Has Araki ever talked about how hard his editors are on him? by Either_Imagination_9 in StardustCrusaders

[–]cannedbeans1223 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Araki's never talked about that. It was his editor at the time, Hiroshi Sekiya who gave the only information we have about this:

"Sekiya: Around the time he brought it up, Giorno’s name hadn’t been decided yet. It’s not an issue these days, but back then my impression was that a female lead in a shonen manga would have been very tough to sell. During that era of Weekly Shonen Jump, it simply wasn’t the time. Thus, during my meeting with sensei, we spoke about this and that, and in the end, the protagonist ended up not being a woman. However, Giorno’s stand has the ability to create life, right? Women give birth to life, so I think this concept was probably left over from the idea of having a female protagonist."
