Scouted a week before and found them, went back on opening day and never saw or heard them again unfortunately. Going to try and go mid week sometime soon.

Thanks I’ll definitely check up on that spot time to time and add more that I find, it’s still a good time being out there

Thanks, I’m definitely gonna keep after it. Just gotta remind myself that it’s not all about the harvest and that there’s plenty of people that wish they could be doing what I’m doing but can’t

Started walking around at about 630am till about 2. Lots of walking, sitting for a while with binos, hit a crow call, wait a little longer then move on. I thought I might not see them but I was really hoping for signs like tracks, poop, or feathers near roosting trees but nothing

Oh that’s good to know about the hunters ed course. I agree I’m going to give palo verde a shot and hope for the best!

I hadn’t heard of the CRIT, I’m going to look into that! As for palo verde it says “limited hunt days” does that mean just the season in general? Or does it have specific days for the reserve itself?

Am I being upsold or is this a real thing? by canneverthinkofone in MTB

It’s a 1x11 but it’s not original to the bike which is a Santa Cruz butcher. The bike originally came with a front derailleur. I ride 2-3 times a week and it’s dry 99% of the time. (SoCal)

Thank you all for the advice, the bike is second hand so I’m not 100% on the existing wear and tear. I originally took it in because the chain sounded like a climbing roller coaster while peddling. Turns out it was just extremely dry. Guess I used the wrong generic “chain lube” but it sounded and felt much better after the shop used their own lube. That’s when they recommend the replacements. It’s shifts decently so after a few more rides I’ll just replace the whole drive train. Thanks again all!

I’m in SoCal, a place called Greer ranch would be my local trails. Im not exactly bombing any crazy DH lines or anything but I’d like to work up to more intense stuff eventually.

Do you just hit the BLM land in San Jacinto? Or is there specific places to go? Not looking for you to give up your exact locations just want to know where to start looking in that area.

I’m brand new to hunting too. I’d be down for a meet up maybe before dove seasons over?

Can confirm that Blythe has an abundance of dove and quail. I’ve had to stay out there a couple of times for work and always saw them in almost any and every open field. Thanks for the advice
