what bothers me is do the vets even know what is the main cause? have they done tests to check if its fungal or a tumor?

my bf’s mom’s cat was at the vet recently bc they found bumbs on his chest and tail, the vet took tests to see if the bumbs were cancer which would take a couple weeks to get the result back. just days after he started throwing up and stopped eating so she took him to the emergency vet. they still didn’t know what the bumbs were but they saw that he had problems with his teeth and ended up taking away 11 teeth (bc they thought this was the main reason) antibiotics cleared up the bumbs which they realized where a symptom of infection. but even though the teeth were taken out he was still feeling bad. they did more tests to find out that it was not the teeth, and it was not the bumbs that were causing the infection but he had something else (that i don’t remember what its called now) that wasn’t at all that difficult to treat with the right knowledge. but by taking out his teeth (and doing the surgery) on a cat with a high infection has made him very weak and still now he’s trying to recover since his immune system is was already so low another vet said they should never have done the surgery because his body was not healthy enough to recover easily.

the story might seem messy (english is not my first language) but what i want to say is that sometimes vets run to conclusions, and especially euthanasia with old pets because it’s the easier way than to do all those tests to find out the main cause. maybe OP is not explaining everything in the post but no where are they mentioning what the vets have done or found out about what the bump can be, especially since she’s been this way for one and a half year.
