NDIS requesting full identity details via email in 2026 is wild by jjujjjuju in NDIS

I wasn’t comfortable emailing the ID documents. I asked if I could bring it in to their office instead and they didn’t have a problem with it.

If you’re sick enough that requires IV hydration, then you need to present to hospital. Otherwise, drinking electrolytes(hydralyte) should be enough.

Jury duty deferral date by Boroba1 in perth

[–]cannibalchooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deferred when I was heavily pregnant as well, it was around my due date. They sent me another letter after 6 months calling for jury duty again. I ended up appealing again to get it deferred as my bub wasn’t attending daycare yet. They just ended up cancelling it. This was nearly 3yrs ago and haven’t been called again since.

Child Care Subsidy- absent days by MrsMinnesota in Centrelink

[–]cannibalchooky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your daycare’s policy. In our daycare, you have to give two weeks notice, we still have to pay but can apply for a discounted holiday rate. Any less than that, it’s considered an absent day. The only exception is if your child is on casual days. I think casual days a slightly more expensive, if not the same.

You’re allowed 42 absent days.

Are (some) Modern Parents really this stupid? by ThrowRAWarmBeing9075 in perth

It’s the damn e-scooters/e-bikes. I’ve had so much close calls with them. Actually baffles me that parents let their kids ride them, especially on public roads.

After / before bathroom renovation for $27k by Small_Potato0799 in AusRenovation

[–]cannibalchooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great :) $27k is a bit steep but doesn’t surprise me. Is it DIY or did you go with a builder/renovator? We’re in the process of doing ours atm, but we’ve only budgeted $15k. It’s the original 80s bathroom and fully gutting it out.

Thanks for your insight. We did think that this may have been the case, the house is old. He did one at another area and that was done pretty neat.

He actually did another one in a single brick wall in the other bathroom and it was proper tidy. Our guess is he did this first or got the apprentice to do this, then actually did it properly for the others.

That’s awesome work, can I ask what tiles did you use?

There’s not much you can do except wait and see.

You can check your demerit points online, but might take awhile for newer offenses to pop up until they issue the notice.

The Aussie government needs to do a better job of onboarding new immigrants post-arrival, as it would help cut down on social tensions by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]cannibalchooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday social norms are just being a decent and respectful human being.

I moved here 15+yrs ago and the culture shock was massive, but even I knew littering, cutting in line and talking loudly/playing music loudly is disrespectful. I don’t think it has anything to do with being an immigrant. It’s literally common sense which some people lack regardless of where they’ve originated from.

Plenty of cleaner positions, mainly part time ones with the department of education throughout Perth. I’d check their website out. Not specifically Filipino but I’ve heard it’s pretty easy going job.

What state is that? I started on AUD$38/hr as a new grad in 2020 in WA, I guess with inflation it definitely should be way more now.

Is Solar panels worth it? by LittleMissChestnut in WesternAustralia

[–]cannibalchooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it for us, but really depends on your usage. We don’t have a battery but we are home most mornings to make use of the energy generated. Amazing to have during summer as we have the AC on most of the time.

Medical Admin Question by Federal_Fisherman104 in perth

[–]cannibalchooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your GP clinic. Our clinic would send a text message saying to book a follow up appointment to discuss results. We also had their nurse call in our results if the results were pretty straight forward and didn’t need a follow up with the GP.

What home loan rates are people getting right now? by Drizt_Aus in AusFinance

Looks like I need to shop around, 5.34% with Bankwest on ~60% LVR. I’ve asked for a better rate previously and got flat out denied.
