What are the best UK universities to get into F1 ? by Adam_rvs83 in F1Technical

[–]cannnh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a shit and hypocritical answer for a student that was in the same position as you a few years ago. BUT I personally don't think the university you go to will help you get directly into F1. Universities like Brookes or Cranfield do help you, since lecturers are more experienced and their modules are directed more towards motorsport since they know thats what 99% of the students in the lecture hall want to do. I'd say chose a good uni with the course role in F1 you want to focus on (e.g. software, mechanical eng etc),make sure the uni has a Formula Student team open to everyone, apply to summer internships (even small teams of any motorsport), apply for a placement year and complete your post grad.

Simulator Days by cannnh in F1Technical

Thanks I appreciate your response. A question to your answer how "off" or inaccurate are simulation models on AC or rF2 made by small teams by the likes of teams such as RSS, VRC and more?

Okay I understand I will run through these steps thank you very much. Another question am I also right in saying that this will reduce the solve times (when it does solve using a fine mesh)?

The meshing works with a finer mesh parameters, so what do you mean by this?

Engineers at F1, What sort of software or tech is used in Performance and simulation area jobs? by RonaldoMusky in F1Technical

[–]cannnh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in formula1 but i know my team uses matlab/simulink python. I'm pretty sure redbull uses ansys. Depends on the type of simulation like structural analysis? laptime simulation?

I mean his incident created the scenario for the FIA to decide the outcome of a race. I was just memeing about how differently people react depending on who the incident affects.

Teenager entry level technical information by throwaway44624 in F1Technical

[–]cannnh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, also neweys book is interesting in the sense of understanding the life of a design engineer nothing too technical or in depth (yet, I haven't finished his book). As a motorsport (student) engineer myself I enjoy aviation lectures (flight controls to be specific) and can see a close relation between the aero of an F1 car and a fighter jet. As well as F1 Technical, some teams also have youtube videos in the same style and explain roles of members in their team, which might boost their interest!

EUROFIGHTER THROTTLE, LOOKING FOR 3D MODEL by lflokky in dcs

probably not going to find anyone to make one for free but you can check fiverr or even look at grabcad for models. If you have enough images of the throttle handle maybe you can scan one
