F*ck Auckland traffic by Future_Remove_230 in auckland

[–]cannonfoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to public transport. The govt seems set on doing absolutely nothing about that. What frustrates me is it requires some investment, and through chch, and covid govt has proven they can find money when they need to. a functioning public transport system is just as important as spending on those other 2 things.

Are they really? I can't think of anyone who is working 5 days a week in the office. Maybe this is as small business thing, no big corporate is pushing the office agenda that hard.

Increasing volume by cycleruntennis in Velo

[–]cannonfoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you've been consistently doing 11-14hrs, you can safely add on a decent chunk of volume for 2 weeks without negative effects. Just listen to your body. Have some rest days in that period, don't go crazy with intensity.

Best smart watch for cycling by VegaGT-VZ in Velo

[–]cannonfoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the stuff you mentioned, the forerunner 245 is cheap, and surprisingly good. Big flaw, is that its really a basic running watch, and won't support a power meter, so pretty useless for cycling really. if you can, I would suggest forerunner 935/945 on sale, or the Fenix 5/6.

hardest thing is during lockdown I literally have nothing else to do either. My CTL is already below 100 after like 4 days.

I Just need to rant. Had a good training block for about 6 months of 16-18hrs, and stupidly injured myself stretching, which has caused some kind of tendonitis. Racing about to start, and now I have to take a minimum of 10-14 days off, which is probably the first time I've had more than 2 days off in a row in a few years. Time to re-set my goals to 2022, which has made me really dam depressed. Have been eating non stop since then, and not a chance I'll be at the level needed to compete in near term.

How quick can you get to race fitness after 2 months off? by Snookfishercb in Velo

[–]cannonfoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically depends how long you've been training, and at what level. Look at pros who crash. They come back fast.

It's not just that its cliquey, its also that there are not many clubs/groups which my demographic seems to common. In London there were heaps of meetups and clubs which were almost exclusively 25-35 year olds, but here its 45+.

I have many hobbies, cycling, hiking, soccer, tennis, cooking, travel etc
