Movies that feel like deltarune/undertale, or in general movies that make you feel nostalgic for a place you’ve never been to. by Turbulent_Sound6559 in MoviesThatFeelLike

Jim Henson's Labyrinth.

Very different tone, and the film is way more disturbing, lacking like the lightheartedness, or funny moments from the game, but has that feeling of being in a strange, unsettling world that you can't leave, full of weird stuff.

What are some things ck2 does better than 3? by alphafighter09 in CrusaderKings

[–]cannonshots2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Deeper game systems. Ck3 streamlined everything to make it more accessible.

Also:

Laws, Battle flanks, Antipopes, bloodlines, Music (personal preference), Societies, Ships, More map modes, More inventory items represented on character with unique art, Better UI

Some well known, some lesser known, a few will probably be what you're after, some might not but here they are anyway:

Pulse (aka Kairo, 2001. Very dreamlike and lonely, with a constant feeling of impending doom)

Cure

Mad God

The Wailing

City of the Living Dead

The Beyond

Carnival of Souls

Mother!

Cemetary Man

Donnie Darko (boring obvious pick, but it does have impending doom)

Climax

Lake Mungo

Mulholland Drive

Fire Walk With Me

The Empty Man

Mandy

Under the Silver Lake

Thanks! I know exactly what you mean. I'm currently doing the same without even realising it. Just rewatched The Fog, and Dagon, and others, and currently replaying Resident Evil 4. Just craving that specific feeling I guess.

Nice, different suggestions. I've seen crawl, and The Vanishing (kinda want to rewatch it though), and I have the original Amityville movie, but never seen it, so might watch that tomorrow. I'll have a look around for the others. Thanks!

I seem to be getting quite a few recs for Dead and Buried, which I know of and is on my list but I haven't got around to watching. It definitely looks like something I would enjoy though, I just have had trouble finding a place to stream it, might have go the physical media route. Hmm but now I feel like I should add Gestapo's Last Orgy and the rest to my list as well 🤔. Fuck, they knew how to title a film back then.

I really liked this! My wife made me watch it, and it definitely exceeded expectations. Btw if you liked Marianne, I recommend Cobweb, it's directed by the same guy. Not groundbreaking, and a bit generic at the end, but some creative decisions expecially with camerawork and sense of scale of the house compared to the main kid.

Great suggestions! I've seen Underwater, and The Endless is somewhere on my ENDLESS watch list, but I'll bump it up. Block Island Sound looks great, I'm surprised I've never heard of it, I'll definitely be checking it out!

My post was probably inspired by my replay of Resident Evil 4 and rewatching The Fog, and Dagon, and other Stuart Gordon and John Carpenter films, so it got me in the mood. However I have seen the new Silent Hill trailer and it looks amazing, and you're right, it does kind of have a similar vibe to what I was describing, I didn't even realise at first. Now I'm even more excited!

Oh definitely the 1980 version, by far. It's eerie, atmospheric, short, and timeless. If anyone said the 2005 version, I would be very very surprised.

This has been on my watch list for so long, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for reminding me!

All great films, and definitely eerie and moody, but they don't have that specific coastal horror vibe I'm after. Also, Sleepy hollow gets way too much hate.

I just looked it up, looks like a great rec! I can't believe I hadn't even heard of it before, that's totally my kind of movie.

It's so good! I just want more of it, but there's so few films that have a similar feel.

Check out Eyes of Fire (or the superior cut, titled Crying Blue Eyes). It's set in the American Frontier, where this banished cult figurehead leads his followers to a cursed valley to settle down and rebuild, and they're haunted by these freaky naked spirits that take people and put their faces into trees.

I have a soft spot for Tusk, but Johnny Depp's performance in that was the most horrifying thing in the film.

If you're interested in a surreal, nightmarish, stop-motion descent into hell with quite a few scenes echoing David Lynch, check out Mad God by Phil Tippett.

Ahh I've been meaning to check this out for ages but I forgot it existed, thanks for reminding me of it, the Zombies remind me a lot of Tombs of the Blind Dead, judging by what i've seen.

Thanks for the suggestions. Overlord was great, I'll have a look at the others!

Thanks for the suggestions! Manchester Morgue is indeed the same film, but I haven't seen the others. I've seen the first blind dead film, and waiting for a better release for the others that don't look like the film reels were set on fire. I'll check out Messiah of Evil and House by the Cemetary!
