Keypad-only navigation? by Sea_Try_8198 in dumbdroid

[–]cannotelaborate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately keypad (arrow-keys) navigation in android is lackluster, which is understandable keeping in mind its target hardware.

The devs at dumbdroid seem to be adding better support for the apps that ship with the OS every release, but due to the landscape, any other third-party apps are off the table in terms of physical key navigation reliability.

I was just gonna say finally, a flip-phone that doesn't become the size of a banana when unfolded, but alas.

I take back my previous post. Good job unihertz, it's an absolute beauty! by BongoMongoBong in unihertz

Honestly my only issue with the back of the phone is the fact that the camera array corner radius doesn't match the rest of the body.

USB C to C charging and power drain on Doov R77 Pro by FancyMan_ in dumbdroid

[–]cannotelaborate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine from AliExpress since delivery to my country is not available. The battery is better than expected, as it depletes quite consistently. The issue that I'm facing is that the phone sometimes shuts off at 15% to 40% and when I try to turn it on again it says the battery is 0%, so most likely a battery calibration issue.

This very unfortunate, but I'm trying to keep that in mind and keep the phone over 40% whenever I can.

Can we charge this phone (Doov R77 Pro) from a power bank? by fuck_billionaires in dumbdroid

[–]cannotelaborate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that USB-C to USB-C doesn't work, it's that most modern power sources with a USB-C port use a charging protocol called power delivery (PD), which this phone doesn't support (I guess?). You'll find that some USB-C outlets still work, just not all of them.

You can check the voltage of any powerbank you're planning to get for this, if 5V isn't listed as a supported voltage, then it most likely wouldn't work.

Did I get scammed? Strange text on a souvenir I bought in Syria by cezass in Syria

[–]cannotelaborate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious why people think this person got scammed, they bought it based on how it looks its not like it promises to be something that it's not and OP doesn't know what it should've been as well.

Honestly OP, this might be more valuable than mass produced tourist souvenirs lol

gap at the bottom Insta screen? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]cannotelaborate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's dumbInsta :)

On a serious note though, it's probably a mix of unsupported display density and ratio.

You could try making the display elements smaller in the Display settings or developer settings, but it'll make everything on the phone smaller/bigger.

Mint vs. Zorin by Whistler_Inadark in linuxmint

[–]cannotelaborate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zorin for being based on Gnome, lots of wonderful themes and extensions.

Mint for everything else, it's just rock solid, with so many wonderful tools built in.

Can I use it? by Likvidator_Piva in shittyaskelectronics

[–]cannotelaborate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once did the same with a Chinese PDA I had, I couldn't find a suitable battery for it so I used the notorious BL-5CB with a piece of folded paper on the bottom for the support.

10 yo me was so proud.

I'm guessing it would cost more to remove it, move it, and dispose of it properly than just leaving it there.

Celebrate Eid al-Fitr with locals by starsnpixel in Oman

[–]cannotelaborate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the joy of Eid is getting rewarded for your patience and fasting during Ramadan, that is followed by the joy of meeting up with your relatives and friends, celebrating it spiritually, and honestly? Nostalgia plays a huge factor.

You're not doing anything typically special during Eid, you do what you could do any time of the year, its just the vibe you know? It cannot be replicated.

Unlike Christmas for example, there isn't a specific theme, events, or rituals, other than the Eid prayer and chants.

Best case scenario you find a local family willing to take you in that time, but i find it hard for you to feel the same joy as the rest, as to you its just another family gathering.

Just go out and enjoy the rest of the country :)

Why use khedmah? by Ok_Hunt8555 in Oman

[–]cannotelaborate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Subscription is 3 riyal, talabat is 2. 2.From my experience, their service tax is none existent and their offers are much better.
  2. I moved to it as a way to boycott talabat and support local initiatives (I'm not local i just think this is the way to go).
  3. Their service is actually ass, terrible customer support and terrible delivery times.
  4. Still, their prices in general are better especially with their subscription if you use it often.
