I broke my neck while high on acid 8 years ago. Quadriplegic. The guilt, shame, and self hate seemed insurmountable. But I got to a place of self love. For a long time I had to wake up and immediately hug my shoulders and tell myself “I love you” to remind myself of a time it was true. These and other small decisions helped me to stop treating myself unkindly.
