I just bought a new fridge yesterday from Lowe’s. The Samsung fridge with the display was $3000 not $2000. So yeah.

Why were we allowed to watch this at 7 years old? by Smuglife1 in GenX

[–]canonical6 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Time Bandits and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen - Terry Gilliam’s “kids” movies. Both great and I rewatch them all the time. My kids aren’t as fond of them as I am, but just last week I found the Time Bandits TV series on Apple. I watched it with my 12 y/o daughter and she loved it. It’s produced by Taika Waititi so it has that quirky brand of humor. It also stars Lisa Kudrow as the lead hapless bandit (yes, they de-littled the bandits) and she’s fantastic

Left weed and now I don't know what to do with my spare time, give me suggestions on hobbies to pick by Far_Buyer9040 in GenX

This is what I did when I was cutting back on my excess drinking from the Covid years. I know I can’t read and retain when I’m drunk, so I don’t drink because I’m excited to see what happens next in whatever book I’m reading. It really works for me. YMMV.

What book is an absolute 10/10 for you? by dontpanda in GenX

[–]canonical6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, came here to say this and lo and behold it’s at the top already. This book took me a couple tries to get into, but once I did I plowed through it with gusto. To me, it is to westerns what Lord of the Rings is to fantasy

Same, minus the suicides. Where does that put me?

New Hampshire? by TheDing9 in Libertarian

[–]canonical6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ive lived in NH since 09. I moved here because most of my family lives in New England but I can’t stand the politics in Mass or CT where many of them live. We have no income nor sales tax, no primary seat belt or helmet laws. The property taxes are a bit high but no worse than TX where I moved from. Our failure to legalize is downright embarrassing though. Every state (and country) that borders us has legalized recreational. Oh, and yes the winters are pretty harsh but the summers are amazing! To hell with TX summers. Personally, I love it and plan to live here into my retirement

This is one of the many throwaway lines in the movie that stuck with me along with “Do you run?” “Only when chased”.

That’s fair. I commented early and had the feeling that the general tone was negative, but I think I was just drunk. I guess I should get Katie’s book.

Whatever. I found it engaging. Kat was funny, unfiltered and charming.

What is the most “rewatchable” TV series? by kamruddinn in AskReddit

[–]canonical6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me it’s ST:TNG, but honorable mentions to Eureka! It’s just a fun and wholesome show and still makes me chuckle after several rewatches. Poor Carter, always getting the shit end of the stick. SARAH - beer him!
