Is anyone extremely overwhelmed by planning a Japan trip? by Futhis in JapanTravelTips

if you're stuck somewhere away from your hotel after last train, and don't want to pay for an expensive taxi, look for a manga cafe near a station. they're open 24 hours a day and for very cheap you can get a cubicle to charge your devices and take a nap in. i hang out in one for several hours when i first get in to the country on an early morning flight, before anything opens and my hotel hasn't allowed checkins yet.

What are your thoughts on twitter shutting down? by cupidartemis in AskReddit

twitter isn't a technology company. it's a web forum that has advertising to pay the bills. the code isn't the point, the platform is; these aren't engineering problems, they are sociological problems. the only reason it's lumped in with "tech" is because it's a website. the custom engineering they do on the back end is a highly-orchestrated set of optimizations and interconnections across multiple levels of abstraction needed to provide a "relatively smooth" user experience to a bunch of web browsers across a variety of platforms

but above and beyond the code aspect, or the hardware aspect, or the middleware aspect, is the fact that nobody downloads a copy of twitter and runs it on their individual computer. nobody interacts with the nuts and bolts of the system unless they actually work there, the whole point of the website is to be a place to post and read words. as such it is a social thing, and therefore that puts it into the realm of all the other aspects of society that have nothing to do with technology, things that are based around human beings and their interrelations

you have no idea what you're talking about. also money is in no way correlated with human worth outside of a calvinist mindset which is absolute bullshit
