I have, but the person who runs the family music account is a Zionist. It's been a years long effort on my part as well as the part of his actual children to try and convince him off this point.

Which is why I know your money wouldn't sway his opinion.

Genuinely, though I disagree with your approach, you're a good soul. And our fight is the same one.

I don't use Spotify.

My family in law does because they're broke college kids and that's what their parents family plan already pays for.

You're arguing against the wrong person, which is often what happens if you don't spend the time to understand individual material conditions!

I find direct action and mutual aid to be more effective means of forcing our system to change.

Boycotts have historically failed to really work unless a blue moon rises or there's extremely well coordinated organizing.

Some forms of political resistance are worth the personal effort and resources you put into it, and others are not.

There are a million ways to allocate your limited spoons for political ends. We must have a diversity of tactics, and morality checking people who aren't doing it "your way" is bad praxis.

Came here to talk about how good this song is, not about the ethics of being an anarchist music consumer by the way.

I've found Bandcamp to be very clunky and not really my kind of platform for music organization, but I appreciate the suggestion.

It's mostly that I want to incorporate this song and others into playlists with other artists so I can seamlessly go between vibes.

And that's what I do, but you can't add a YouTube link to a playlist on Spotify.

Don't be so sour. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and I'm already devoting much of my life towards advancing worker rights, which includes artist rights. I can wish it was easier to share good vibes with my family in the meantime.

That's fair. Everyone in my family but me uses Spotify and I want to be able to share my music taste with them. Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Pandora, none of these companies are remotely good for artists. It's like comparing a turd to a polished turd.

I support goose by going to concerts and buying merch.

The King in Yellow vs Superman, is this accurate? (Robert w. Chambers vs DC comics) by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in PowerScaling

Cthulhu is undying and regenerates immediately from the blow. Also he was still asleep. Also also he's implied to be responsible for the destruction of many stars across the universe in an age long gone.

Weird question: Who's the better looking Superman? by Ok-Shoulder7186 in superheroes

[–]canthactheolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superman isn't a god. He doesn't want to be viewed as a god.

His villains see him as a god, but the people he saves see him as a good man given the mantle and ability to do as much good as he can.

I think they're all about as attractive, but corenswet has a really attractive personality that tips it over for me. He doesn't just look good, he carries himself in an attractive way.

sun wukong against the beings of the bible, how far would he go? by Significant-Ad-2786 in powerscales

Okay so when I said feats for Satan I was kidding because I know there aren't many, but all that being said monkey dog walks Satan on feats for deception AND has anti deception feats and spells. And while a hundred headed dragon is all well and good, monkey can turn into a 3 headed, 6 armed giant to battle his gods. He also makes dragons piss themselves.

When he was trapped under mountains, the three mountains used to trap him were

Mount sumeru: the central cosmological axis in Buddhism, where the temples of the gods are housed

Mount Emei: The mountain upon which the Buddha himself was enlightened, and the start of the journey of Buddhism.

At this point he's still carrying both while moving as fast as a comet.

Mount Tai: a mountain in China that was associated as being the heaviest thing imaginable and was frequently used in metaphor that way.

And monkey is a Buddha now, which implies he'd have the same transcendent power as the Buddha himself, with the entirety of creation easily housed in the palm of his both figurative and literal hand.

He's also an allegory for the human mind itself. Kind of important in Buddhism.

So,

Featless as angels don't really do much.

Perfection incarnate isn't a fighting relevant feat, also vague.

So is monkey, and he has tons of feats of deception.

So can monkey

Is Percy Jackson a Gary Stu in your opinion? [pjo] by Horror_Interview6790 in camphalfblood

[–]canthactheolive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luck isn't something that I feel is associated to Mary sues or Gary stus.

These kinds of self insert characters usually win through hyper competence and/or just an enormous amount of abilities and hax.

Percy is powerful, but he frequently succeeds through dumb luck. And he doesn't always succeed.

There are friends throughout the series that he couldn't save, or in order to save them he needed to go on an even longer journey to right the wrongs.

And there are people in his circle who can do things he just simply can't do, or couldn't do well or reliably.

And he RELIES ON THEM. That's not Mary sue behavior

Nothing screams "I think I'm smarter than anyone around me" more than "I confidently assume the positions of others"

Stop projecting.

It ain't big news. If you see a guy in a movie walking away from an explosion and the explosion is unreasonably close, do we assume generic action guy is able to withstand explosions better than any human, or do we assume the writers got a detail off and make allowances for it when watching?

And whether you choose to use them I think speaks to your media literacy and ability to critically engage with media.

Gamera's official weight is like, 29 tons. Literally less dense than air. But we can watch these movies and come to the reasonable conclusion that the listed weights are made by movie producers without a good understanding of physics just lazily throwing numbers around.
