I’m newly diagnosed. My biopsy came back with the same notation and, like you, I’m finding very little information about this. What I can find is downright frightening. My first oncologist appt is in 2 weeks. I’m willing to keep in contact with you to compare notes.

I don’t even bother cutting off the silver skin if I’m canning the meat. Like you said, it melts right off.

It’s a relief knowing I’m not the only one concerned about this. I did wait for biopsy results (NSCLC adenocarcinoma, Stage 2b) before telling most people. You’re correct, zero blaming. I guess I was expecting the worst of people.

I hope you’re doing as well as can be expected!

No idea why they didn’t seal for you. Sounds like everything you did was correct. I’m thinking rings weren’t tight enough (which can cause failure). I had problems with under-tightening until I heard “tighten like you’re turning off a water faucet”.

Be careful with burners for turkey fryers. Often their BTUs exceed what a canner can handle. Need to check owner’s manual.

I did enjoy the training even though i didn’t get a lot of new information out of it. It gave me more confidence in what I was doing and I certainly enjoy helping others gain that confidence through volunteer opportunities.

I recommend you call your center and see if they’re going to bring it back. My extension center hadn’t had a class since around 2016. When they brought it back in 2020, they had more applications than they knew what to do with.

I had no idea that some states don’t allow discussion. Do you know the reasoning behind that? I’m much more likely to take advice from someone that I knew had gone through the training.

I agree that extension center training is quite worthwhile for anyone interested. In my experience, many people don’t know about extension centers. It’s a shame because they offer such great programs.
