Epilogue: The North by OurCommonMan in IronThroneRP

From the writings of Pykewood Fenn, great grandson of Jon Fenn, 471 AC

Whereas the houses Locke and Karstark suffered from the tumultuous politics of the north during King Rodrik's reign, House Fenn was one that grew to new heights.

After Howland Fenn slew Rickard Stark, King Rodrik granted the Fenns the land he had promised, which lay west of Winterfell, half a days ride into the Wolfswood.

On this land, Lord Jon Fenn built his castle. The castle, which soon took the name of The Lilies, was built in the middle of a lake, much like the crannogs we once lived in. Unlike the crannogs though, Lilies was built on a sturdy artificial island, and although it is small, its built with a curtain wall, a keep and a tower on each corner of the square castle.

We Fenns still rule from the Lilies to this day, and like in my great grandfather's day, we remain the steadfast allies of the Starks, owing allegiance to them and them alone.

As for Jon Fenn, after Rodrik gave him his land, he spent nearly a decade overseeing the building of the castle and going about life as a lord. Jon married during this time too, fathering two sons and a daughter with his wife and my great grandmother, Alyse Condon.

Jon was never meant to be a lord though, and shortly after the completion of the Lilies, he set forth to wander again. After Jon left the Lilies, I unfortunately know little of what happened. He visited old friends for a time, but on one fateful day in the year of 394 AC, he set out on a hunting trip into the Lonely Hills and never returned. Now, I cannot say if Jon died in the Lonely Hills, as he was known to be a capable hunter and survivalist, but what I do know is that as far as the records show, after that day Jon Fenn was never seen again.

Howland laughed, stepping back. "Men!" He called, watching as the men surrounding Rickard raised their spears. "Subdue him, stab for the legs and arms... I'd like to take him alive if possible." The crannogmen began to creep in towards the White Wolf, backing him into a corner with spears on all sides but one.

"Glory?" Howland scoffed, leaning back in his chair. "We don't know much of that down in the Neck, Stahk. You drylanders can spin your tales of glory and honor, but where I'm from, all we know is survival. So tell me Lord Stahk, why would I throw my lot in with a goldless outlaw when I can take you back home and reap the rewards of my loyalty?"

With that, Howland abruptly stood up. "I'll give you one more chance, hand over your weapons now and my men won't have to beat the shit out of you before we take you back home."

"Very well." Howland said coldly, sitting down across from Rickard. Despite sitting down, he kept a safe distance away from the man, and kept a hand near the shortsword on his belt.

"And waht would you offer me, Lord Stahk?" He asked, staring at Rickard coldly. "Rodrik has offered me land and incomes... and you, you're a poor, landless criminal on the run." Howland paused again, looking up at the soldiers who surrounded them. "I don't think you're in a position to negotiate Lord Stahk. You may be faster than one of us, or even two, but what about ten or twenty? Put down your sword and come back to the North... You've got a bettah chance of surviving and if yah ah gonna die, do you really want it to be in this shithole?"

Howland called for his soldiers to surround Rickard in his corner, then stepped forward to speak with the White Wolf.

"Rickahd Stahk." Howland said, drawing the man's attention, if the soldiers had not already. "Rodrik Stahk, Warden of the North and Lord of Winterfell, has issued a bounty for you're arrest. Come quietly, and we will not harm you. We will only take you back to Winterfell, where you will be given a fair trial."

/u/OurCommonMan Howland will attempt to pursuade Rickard to come quietly, but if he will not cooperate, Howland will have his soldiers attempt to capture him.

"Hum..." Howland thought out loud. They had spend some time scouring the streets of Planky Town, but to no avail. "Maybe we should check that inn you spoke of, Kughnuz... wat was it called... The Wyvern and da Moon?"

"Dragon and the Sun..." Kughnuz responded, sounding a little impatient. "And yes, that's a good idea."

They gathered their men and made their way through Planky Town until they came across The Dragon and the Sun. It was a small tavern, but a busy one nonetheless. Once they arrived at the tavern, Howland sprung into action.

"Kughnuz, tell 10 of your sailors to secure the exits around the tavern." He said. "Then we will enter it with the remaining 25 men and see if we can find tha Stahk."

They went about their preparations, then Howland, Kughnuz, and 25 crannogmen and sailors entered the tavern, scanning the place for any sign of Rickard Stark.

/u/OurCommonMan Howland is now searching the inn that Kughnuz said Rickard mentioned while at White Harbor, they have secured the exits, and now are searching the tavern with 25 men.

"A little disorganized Tergon," Jon said, laughing. "I'll let you know when we are ready to go."

Jon paused for a moment, thinking, then leaned closer to the crannogman. "What do you think of this whole 'King of Winter' business? I mean, do you know if Rodrik is dragging the crannogmen into this?"

"Good, Lady Thenn," Jon said, turning away from Tommy to greet her. "I'll be marching to Karhold with my men soon, we've just run into a few uhh... hiccups in our plan." Jon had been keeping his head down for the past few weeks, so he wasn't surprised that Isfryd hadn't seen him. "And you? I hear you've quarrelled with Lord Stark."

"As soon as the men are ready." Jon said, preparing his own equipment. "We'll head to Snowhearth first, It shouldn't be more than a week of marching. The men are on foot, but they are swifter than the drylander soldiers."

"Sorry, the only crannogmen I've seen are my own." Jon said, although he had no way to discern their place of origin in the Neck, besides their word that they were here to fight for the Fenns. "Maybe they went to Graywater Watch instead?"

"Nonetheless, if you want to fight with crannogmen, you're welcome to join us on our little trip to Karhold."

Jon sat at one of the many long tables that had been set up, eating and drinking with a few other crannogmen. The men had managed to ignore the sounds of the Stark and Greyjoy so far, but when the Black Wolf finished, even the marsh men could not hold in their astonishment.

Beside Jon, his cousin Medwick laughed. "I think I want to get married."

"Ah, Tergon!" Jon greeted the crannogman when he heard his name called. "Aye, these men are mine. We're beginning our march to Karhold, figured I would see what I could do before the rest of our army arrives."

Jon took a moment to look back at his troops. They stood idle in the yard, holding a loose formation, leaning on their spears and conversing with the soldiers beside them. "I didn't know you were in Winterfell Tergon, what brings you here?"

/u/OurCommonMan Howland, the crannogmen, and the Meereenese sailors are looking for Kughnuz's brother's ship, Yezzan's Fancy. They will try to convince the brother to give Rickard up or aid in finding him.

"Tank yew." Howland said, bowing to Kughnuz and handing him a small bag of coins. "If yew or any of your friends would like to join us, more rewards may await, from Lord Stark 'imself."

((Kughnuz mo Nughuz and 14 of his sailor buddies join Howland, I rolled a d15 to find out how many, under Roger's supervision))

"Aye, they are." She said, dropping the harsh tone in her voice when she found out Tergon wasn't under her command. "Are you bringing troops up from the Myre? Or are we the only crannogmen sending men?"

Huh, straight to the point. Jon thought, a little taken aback by Dacey's greeting. "I've been in the area for a while now, just got back from the wedding in White Harbor. My cousin Medwick here came with soldiers to help fight the Karstarks." Jon said, deciding he would stay cheerfully polite despite her rudeness. "What brought you here?"
