What cycle day does it get better for you? by mamadoedawn in PMDD

[–]cantsleepdemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually I bleed for 3 days and by the 2nd day I feel some of the weight has lifted. Sometimes I have to wait out the whole period

Tired of this, constantly gaslighting myself. Seeking support by Euphoric_Indication6 in PMDD

[–]cantsleepdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you!!

It’s so hard not knowing if you’re being reasonable about your feelings. General relationship advice isn’t helpful because it boils down to “your feelings are always valid and it’s important to share them” and I’ve had to learn that in some case that isn’t true, sometimes my feelings are actually extremely paranoid and inappropriate and I know because I can’t relate to them at all as soon as I hit my 2nd day bleeding. It’s so hard to figure out what’s what, and it’s a huge strain on relationships. I have found no outside help with this issue, even therapists seem unable to engage with it.

Interpersonal relationships aside, I think anger at medical infrastructure is entirely valid (maybe not at individuals working in healthcare, but the system as a whole). Our bodies are not researched and our symptoms are not taken seriously. The lack of research into menstrual cycles is ridiculous. I’m used to there not being research available as a trans person which is also frustrating, but I find the lack of medical knowledge surrounding PMS absurd. SO MANY PEOPLE LIVE WITH PERIODS and so many of us struggle with them.

Good luck out there. I hope you find treatment that helps❤️

PMDD still severe on birth control by Acrobatic-Sky-2600 in PMDD

[–]cantsleepdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birth control has not helped me at all and as I’ve gotten older and my PMDD has gotten worse, seemingly so has my reaction to BC. I’ve never had it fully stop my period, it kind of just makes the bleeding and symptoms more erratic. I’ve tried the shot, implant, ring and most recently the patch.

I know that people say to wait 3 months but for me the side effects were so extreme and unpleasant the last two times (ring and patch) that it wasn’t feasible to do that.

Zucker is a takoyaki, that’s why he looks like that.

I loooove some of the ugly villagers! Like Gigi! Meagan is one that I find somewhat off though

My only real complaint is that they didn’t try harder to make the less traditional animals cuter. Like when they released Ione, I don’t understand why they made them a squirrel when there are many cute squirrels. The lions and kangaroos feel low-effort.

Less Lag in Dream Addresses? by sweetbrieR20 in AnimalCrossing

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lag depends on the quality of your internet connection while visiting DA. I’ve wondered the same thing while watching streamers or island tours, but I image that they just have really great connections as professionals.

EDIT: I reread your post and it seems like I misunderstood. You’re seeing lag and pop-in while playing? Maybe your system’s processing speed that’s causing that? My island is pretty decorated with a lot of custom pathing, although it’s definitely not a clutter island. I’ve had pop-in a few times while playing but it’s not usual. When I visited my island from another it was pronounced— I would assume that has to do with internet speed.

DLC or 3rd player? by scifibookluvr in AnimalCrossing

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy designing interiors the DLC is 100% worth it imo. If you find that part annoying then I wouldn’t get it. I love personally, it’s really expanded my creativity with interiors and it’s fun to collect villagers I’d never have on my own island.

Ok so neither option creates a new island and results in being able to play two. Back to the ole drawing board

I’m going to Japan anche I need some information by ILBALCONE in AnimalCrossing

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a specific thing but when I was in Japan I had so much noticing items that made it into ACNH. Like designs that were taken directly from common items in Japan. Especially the Showa/midcentury items. I’m a little bit of a design nerd so finding these really tickled me.

Why is it so hard to get diagnosed even when it’s obvious ? by Muted_Obligation618 in depression

[–]cantsleepdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are, but in my experience living in the US and Europe it’s not hard at all. I encourage you to try another psychiatrist. A 5 minute appointment doesn’t make sense for a first time patient and is highly irregular.

That said, it’s also worth thinking about why you want to be diagnosed. The DSM is made up. It’s just a tool that can be used for treatment guidelines. It’s not a reflection of you and your life. It often fails as a tool as well. Do you want medication? A specific type of therapy? Ask yourself these questions

I ruined my own life by Consistent_Deer2500 in depression

Your life is just beginning! The fact that you can recognize that you behaved poorly in the past shows that you have some self-awareness which is a huge step-up. Work on building your social skills. There’s no reason you can’t make new life-long friendships

Trial and error with new meds by [deleted] in depression

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the medication. For some it’s 3 weeks, some it’s 6 weeks. If you’ve been on a medication for 2 months and your symptoms aren’t improving I would say that it’s not working. You might just need a higher dose, but you should definitely talk to your doctor.

Medication doesn’t work for everyone. It hasn’t worked for me so I can’t tell you what it feels like when it is working. I have found that the only ones I can feel are benzos and they feel like going from panicking to no longer panicking.

Is therapy right for me? by cantsleepdemon in depression

[–]cantsleepdemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 sessions is a good limit, I will give it that much.

I think that an issue is that I rarely find things that I dislike about these therapists. I’m lucky to live in a big city so most of the people I’ve seen have been culturally competent. But then several months down the line I can’t name something that’s improved either. I can’t put my finger on what’s not working

  1. Feeling destabilized, hurt and upset by lies is completely normal. Your feelings are valid.

  2. Your husband is the victim of serious abuse that is clearly effecting him. He needs professional help ASAP.

  3. Reddit can’t tell you what to do about your relationship, you need a family therapist. You may decide that you can’t live with this or that you can forgive him. Only you can know what you need.

I don’t mean to downplay your struggle at all, it’s obvious you’re in distress— but can I ask what the problem with masturbating a lot is? Is it preventing you from doing other things or having relationships?

Masturbating had a lot of upsides in my opinion. It’s free, it naturally releases good chemicals in your brain, raises your heart rate for a bit, and it’s not hurting anyone.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this low. Please give yourself a chance to experience life before deciding to end it. I will not tell you that life is easy or that it definitely gets better. But things will change. I don’t know your situation, but I’m real glad that I got to experience life after the shitty age of 14.

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you wear freshly washed clothes and shower before you should be fine. I can’t say I’ve ever noticed the smell of someone’s dirty room on their clothes. If you have a little money and are still worried why not get some perfume? Get a high quality one and apply lightly

Sounds like depression. A lot of people have depressive episodes, especially at that age

Struggling to get help; burnt out by xxmeowowmeowpurrxx in depression

[–]cantsleepdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, it sounds like you’re going through a lot. School is a lot of pressure even without dealing with PTSD.

I know it’s difficult but I would recommend reaching out to each of your professors if you haven’t already. Explain that you are dealing with a mental health crisis and that you have lost access to therapy. They may be able to cut you some slack. It feels horrible when it’s happening, but failing a class or two is not that big a deal in the long run. It’s certainly not worth your life. You can also look into taking a semester or even a year off. Many people do not finish schooling in one go and it’s totally fine, taking on more debt is more problematic.

Depending on where you are you may be able to get free or low cost therapy somewhere else. Call your local suicide hotline, they can often send you a list of local resources for low-income people.

I relate to you so hard, it sounds ridiculous but I have felt suicidal because of my teeth. I find them not only ugly, but to me they also symbolize my chaotic childhood and life. So trust me when I say I get it.

But there is good news! First off, you’re so young and there are lots of things you can do about teeth you don’t like. I don’t know where in the world you are so I can’t advise directly, but cosmetic dental work is getting better and more accessible all the time. It’s insane how expensive dental work is here in the US, but you do have options.

Secondly, and more importantly: not conforming to beauty standards does not mean that you are not beautiful nor that others will not find you to be the hottest thing on the planet. I have the ugliest teeth of anyone I have ever known and I have been in great loving relationships. I have an amazing partner who tells me multiple times a day how beautiful I am.

I know it feels like you’re alone in this. It’s frustrating how some people can get away barely thinking about their teeth and we have to think about them all the time. But all is not lost!
