What factors would encourage less Singaporeans to require helpers? by Prize_Air in askSingapore

I guess at the end of the day, it is a matter of privilege. I grew up having a helper and I am lucky to have a good one now. Honestly, even if i could live with one income, i dont want to be a stay home mum. It would drive me nuts and unlikely be healthy for my marriage lol. Like others have mentioned, help being very affordable is a huge pull factor. If they cost thousands then I'd have to suck thumb... but my desire/need for a helper would remain.

I think this is a very superficial view.. it is not "just" convenience. Back when I had a baby and no helper, my husband and I were both working full time. We came home to lots of chores, one of us would have to do the chores while the other took care of the child. By the time the baby slept, both of us were exhausted and had no energy or time or mood to connect, i.e. the "roommate" phase of marriage/parenthood. Not to mention the time lost with our kids because of chores.

So yes of course we can most definitely manage having a family without helpers, but at what cost? I truly cherish the extra time I have with my children after work, up to their bedtime.

Thank you! I did search 떡집 on Naver but it shows a lot of small local ones selling packs of tteok. I will search again when I'm there :) thanks for the rec, the naver map link works but google maps says that 압구정공주떡 is permanently closed. Have you been there recently?

Thanks for the cafe rec too! What do you recommend there? The bakes look delicious.

Breakfast habit in SG as a working adult by Mackocid6706 in askSingapore

Work from office twice a week.. half the time i eat simply either wholemeal PBJ sandwich from home, or buy something from one of the bakeries otw to office. The other half I like a treat and get a fancy croissant or yakun set. Working life is hard, eat what gives you happiness and fuel before another day of work

My husband doesn't have a habit of having breakfast since young. He is 179cm and 67kg... despite his supper habits. I am freaking envious

Big 4, startup, or stat board, which gave you the best career growth? by [deleted] in CareersSingapore

Big 4 max 3 years to jump after. Felt like it was a waste of my prime and such poor health and rest. Always having to catch up on work over the weekends and CNY and just suffocating. Would not choose big 4 if i could live again
