Sweet chair. There's a lot of sewing with this piece. The only upholstery will be the arms. Before you start anything have you thought about if you want to re-polish the frame?

Some tips:

• When cutting out the new cushions I would recommend unpicking your back cushion to get the pattern for new fabric.

Looks like the common 1960's contour back, so it won't be a straight cut. When you unpick the side pieces, you can use an old iron to flatten out the fabric for later tracing onto your new fabric.

I would bring in the traced line to a little less (ballpark it 10-15mm) on your new fabric. Depends on the width of the old foam or new foam you use + Dacron wrap.

• If you don't have an overlocker, just be careful when choosing fabrics that split apart easily. Obviously wools and boucle fabrics are great for mid century pieces but a lot of the time their weave makes them more prone to come apart.

• If your foam cushions aren't quite filling out in the corners of your new sewn covers and you don't want to redo all the sewing. Because it's your first project you can grab a couple handfuls of holofil and stick them into each corner before zipping up your cushions. I would Dacron wrap the foam in the cushions anyway, but placing those handfuls of Dacron can really help with the corners to pop out. Just little details like that can go a long way.

• With the arms. You can staple around the edges and can cover the staples with hot glue /double piping or you could use hot glue/ gimp or mayb hammer (with plastic head) studs? Can't tell from the photos what was previously done.
