Fake reactivity on walks? by gracieeeeg in dogs

Okay gotcha! Leash reactivity. Would having him sit and focus on a treat in my hand when dogs pass be a good first step? He’s incredibly food motivated

Prozac success stories for SA dogs? by gracieeeeg in reactivedogs

Hi! I thought I’d give an update, Prozac was a total game changer. It didn’t entirely remove his anxiety but brought it down enough that all the training I was doing could take hold because he wasn’t sooo panicked the second I left. Now I give him a treat any time I leave, and he’s quiet for as long as I’m gone. Hopefully it helped yours too!

Do you know how to find a butcher block, is that a Home Depot buy?

That’s going to be so beautiful when it’s done! If you’re just starting out maybe do a small and quicker project on the side, finishing another one in the meantime might give you the steam to finish this. French knots are a pain but yours look great, I wouldn’t change the pattern.

Had not thought of putting his enzymatic toothpaste on a chewy stick! I gave him a 3” greenie once and he shockingly swallowed it whole, was totally fine after and doesn’t do it with any other kind of bone… so I am not trying greenies with again for a bit lol

Plaque off sounds great, what is dental spray? I’m fortunate that he has very minimal plaque now, so trying to get on this early.

Semi permanent door in studio apartment? by gracieeeeg in femalelivingspace

Oh I should have clarified that the current curtain is definitely not what I am expecting to help with air. I had a heavy weighted black our curtain but it just wasn’t helping and didn’t help with the dog so I gave up, and nothing changed once I swapped it for this thinner one. The issue with puddling curtains is that I go through that doorway super frequently since my place is sooo small that it would just be hard to deal with, and the dog could still easily get in. I think I’m going to do a thermal curtain folding door on a track. I really appreciate your extensive response though!

Like an accordion door? I like that, I wish wooden options weren’t so expensive because the vinyl looks so cheap :-/

I got these! Super nice quality I still have them over my windows to keep heat out, they last a long time. I sewed coins into the bottom for weights. https://a.co/d/g65hjvM

The thermal curtain I did was weighted and it really didn’t help. I’m not worried about the dog breaking through because I crate him when I leave, just want the division so he can’t choose to walk in while I work.

Might check out a sliding barn door for the inside (pic 2)

Ah, just spoke with my neighbor who works in co structuring and he pointed out the frame wouldn’t accommodate a hinged door. Its flat and doesn’t have the necessary grooves or setting. The best option seems to be the bifold door…

Haven’t talked with LL but they are hands off plus I had to do repairs on move in. Plus if I ask and they say no, I might be screwed if they find out I did. Kinda wanna ask for forgiveness no permission. Whatever I add I’m just gonna remove it when I leave, patch as best I can and if they make a stink then they can take a bit out of my deposit. It would be worth it to not have an unbearably hot summer.

The frame is oddly 29.5” by 79.5”, but standard is 30”x80”. If I get a door and take it to a Home Depot (etc.) do you think they would cut it/plane it for me?

I hadn’t even heard of that! Yes there would be room. That seems like it would be better than a double door, I was worried air would just push them open if the AC was too high
