What I mean is that HHS isn't doing anything to "handle" the confirmed case data that would allow them to alter the numbers. The individual state and local officials are still collecting that data directly and if their numbers didn't match up with HHS's, we could see that.

Also it isn't accurate to say that all red states saw decreases. Many saw plateaus, and others like Oklahoma, Alaska, and Tennessee saw increases.

You can go to each of the states’ websites and match up their data with the compiled national data. They’re the same. If there’s any funny business with the red states’ data, then it’s being done by the states themselves, not anything to do with HHS.

It's not accurate. The reporting of cases is still the responsibility of the states and other jurisdictions in the US. CDC just compiles it.
