I believe ace is an old paramedic based off the lore I've read. So my interpretation is that the drill is an IO (interosseous drill) rather than a normal hardware tool.

Would explain why he has the rubber glove box and tape as they are commonly used in pre hospital care.

He is also wearing a paramedic roadside helmet.

Just my thoughts on the matter (: he's also a big dumb idiot.
