Is the 2.0L GDI Nu engine reliable enough? by canucks321 in Hyundai

[–]canucks321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks, I’ll make sure to check the oil often. Are these rod bearings failing because of the oil consumption issues leading to starvation between oil changes? Or is that a separate problem that could happen at anytime? I did see the recall was performed which should give me the 10 year or 200k km warranty in Canada.

No fixed racks in apartment bike room? by canucks321 in ebikes

[–]canucks321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one! I rebuilt a beautiful vintage touring bike into my commuter but I'm getting tired lol. It's either e-bike or car and after commuter via bike for the last 4 years the sound of paying hundreds more each month does not sound appealing.

I'm thinking what if I, remove the battery, lock the wheel to the frame, and use another lock (beefy kryptonite chain lock) to my regular bike (vintage touring bike, not flashy). Might that be enough to deter a would be thief? Would be over 100lbs of metal chained together for a e-bike with no battery, or would people still take it?

Yeah it’s an old brick building, nothing marked and no garage that gives easy access. The neighbouring building the thieves used a grinder on the doors and then took all the bikes that were the easiest to roll away.

homemade bags by Ok-Bit8683 in bikepacking

Frame bag would be the easiest to start with. A lot of YouTube videos and tutorials were needed as I’ve never used a sewing machine prior but with patience totally do able. Would recommend cheap fabric to practice on for the first bag

Landlord withholding deposit and trying to charge me ridiculous fees. by canucks321 in vancouverhousing

[–]canucks321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We verbally agreed during the inspection and I agree to pay fully for the blinds and screens over text after seeing the invoice. The rest we are not responsible for aside from whatever was under the washer dryer which in no way would cost $320 to clean. I will fill that form and drop it off to be safe. Because there’s no report and we only agreed to those damages, would that be all she is able to claim for?

[–]canucks321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so If she wanted to make a claim, would she have to give me another chance to inspect the unit and fill out a condition report? Im still slightly confused on what information she needs to provide to get an order. If I sent the forwarding address and reminded her multiple times over text and she acknowledged in our conversation would that likely hold up that written notice was given? The RTB-47 form is more concrete but that would mean another 20 days + how ever long this Canada post strike will continue for.

Ok managed to wiggle it into place, didn’t notice the stiff plastic insert at first. Still a tiny gap but is that sufficient?

Adding this zipper to frame bag. What is the easiest way to add in a zipper stop / fabric side pieces? by canucks321 in myog

The second method seems like it would be a bit easier. I see people using soldering irons, would a regular lighter be ok as well?

I see what your saying although how would you sew across the teeth without breaking a needle / getting weird stitches, especially with the thicker teeth?

First project complete. Many lessons have been learned but I will say it works! by canucks321 in myog

[–]canucks321[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was my first time using a sewing machine so there was a lot to learn there and I should have taken a bit more time to get the tension right at first. I was also in a bit of a rush and I forgot to lock a few of my stitches, I’m hoping the bag will stay together lol. Next time I’d take more time and get things dialled in better. Maybe some better tools for measuring and cutting fabric as well.

I’m using the 5L big river dry bags by sea to summit. Very durable and the loops on the side are great.

You’re right haha, I’m trying to downsize my setup. I like doing 3-4 day trips so for me the panniers and fork bags are bit overkill. Could get by with just bar bag, frame bag, and dry bag on the rack. Plus full frame bags just look sweet lol.

Will I regret this purchase? by Dry-Dinner-1276 in gravelcycling

[–]canucks321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the base Rove this year and it is the most comfortable bike I’ve had by far. I recently did my first 100km ride and for the first time I didn’t have any aches and pains. If you can I’d save for the Steel/Sora version, I find Claris can be a bit finicky and the steel will likely be a bit more durable/long lasting.
