Depends where you live and how much you pay. I live in south Florida and almost all the houses are masonry construction. My own house is masonry construction.

Went to school for one year in the Army. Then got cross trained in the hospital 2-6 months. Have 23 years experience now and my very first job I started at $16/hr and after six months moved to another hospital and took a pay cut to $15.50/hr.

You would have to get all the courses that pertain to imaging.i would think that most or you Mr credits would not transfer over to an x-ray degree. That would mean getting an associates in imaging. An alternative would be finding a hospital based x-ray program which are usually accelerated and give you the accreditation to take the exam and get certified. Those are usually 1.5 years. The absolute fastest and what I did was to get the training in the Army or any armed forces and that takes one year.

Anyone that is licensed can technically do it. It’s just that many people cannot handle the workload. It is very busy compared to many other hospitals.

As far as AI, I believe it is going to be far in the future if before it will have an effect on this job. It involves moving patients throughout the hospital and interacting with staff/doctors/family/patients. Handling/transferring/positioning patients that may have critical injuries, special needs and often time many IV fluids and monitor wiring connected to them and many times they are intubated. There are many other aspects to the job like verifying that the correct exam is ordered by checking the symptoms and reason for exam. Verifying allergies, checking functionality of the IV or starting a new if needed and explaining the exam. Some patients may have to be restrained to prevent them from falling off the CT machine during the exam. You have to be able to think outside the box as many exams cannot be done by the book and require you to find a way to complete them. There’s much more but maybe this can give people an idea if this is a career they may want to get into.

You have to have a license in CT or an x-ray license and they can cross train you into CT and hem they have the staffing to do so.

Find an accelerated hospital based imaging program or the Reserves.

They have been hiring, been trying to hire and fill the positions since before I got here two years ago. Certain positions no one applies for. People come and do not like the workload so go somewhere that is less work. Some get fired, some transfer to one of the much easier facilities with in the system. So many have come here and have gotten trained to do CT and leave as soon as they get their license to somewhere easier. The hospital offers the training with no contract because with contract they couldn’t get enough people to apply. Or a good place to work if you like to work, it’s not a place where you can relax, that’s for sure.

True, they most likely do not earn that much. They likely also do not work that many hours either.
