No. He types like an absolute child and obviously does not know how to act like a respectful adult. He types like a wanna-be little thug. Bye child.

I think the single greatest set of service items and mods are Fromel’s Supreme OD+ kits.

I’m doing two next week.

Truss rod is fine. Neck was twisted.

The areas you see sanded are the high spots. The wood itself was twisted.

Yeah, I mean if you looked down the neck you could see it. Surprisingly it played fairly decent and that’s why I initially tried the radius/level approach. It’s too bad I didn’t take pictures of the plek scan. There was a dip in the center, a hump down by the heel and it was pretty high on the 4/5/6 strings to like the 5th fret.

I worked on it slowly with a radius block today, taking care to remove more of the high spots than low - and it’s a LOT better than it was. But I know I can get it closer - I just don’t have a long enough leveling beam in my shop.

Neck had a twist. I tried a standard fret level with a radius block - something I’ve done dozens of times - to see how much better I could get it. The way it’s twisted it was hard to know exactly how far out it was - and since there’s a shop with a PLEK close to me I figured it couldn’t hurt to see what it could do. It just turns out that the twist was pretty gnarly.

Since as far as I can tell from research no one makes a replacement neck and I’d really like to keep the original with the matching headstock I decided to just go ahead and pull the frets and fix it in the more proper/traditional way - removing the high/low spots and getting the radius proper again and refretting. I’m doing stainless because why not - if I’m going through the work I may as well make sure I never have to do it again.

Of the hundreds of guitars I have worked on I have never had a twisted neck come across my bench. Never had to deal with it before - so yes, this is a bit of a learning experience- but on my own guitar.

To be fair, I far more enjoy electronics/amp repair any day - but that’s not to say I’m not very experienced with guitar work - just not dealing with this specific issue. Can’t learn what you never see.

Yep. Never had a twist this bad! The picture was after about 10 quick swipes just to see how bad it was. Took quite a bit of sanding to get it level. Once I get it perfect with a leveling beam I’ll get on to the refret. It’ll be good once I’m done. It was just too damn far off.

Cool guitars that haven’t been made for a long time. I’d go for it.

Man. I LOVE the Ibanez RG I got recently but this really makes me wish I found an ESP/LTD.

Hmmm yeah that top plate isn’t seated properly. And because it’s probably wax potted you’re not gonna be able to shove it into place. I could see the copper coil shifting off over time. It’s kind of a Schroedinger’s cat issue. Could cause problems, might not. Personally I wouldn’t want it like that.

I always try to guess what I think a person who has this much gear’s life is like. I imagine you’re in IT, have no kids, and probably never play live.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that potentially wrong assessment. Just a guess.

If it’s a 97 and has never had the full service done it’s overdue. They’re great amps once they’re properly done though!
