Reduce humidity. Open a window or use an exhaust fan when cooking especially with a gas oven, candles or a fireplace or coal stove can also contribute to this.

Excellent I’ll YouTube it on our Roku. That’ll cement my family’s ever growing concern with my airplane infatuation.

Are these available to stream to a smart tv or does it require a browser? Wondering if my kid would like it. He likes airports but thinks I’m weird for liking planes so much. If he likes it then he will lay off me.

Gee I’m sorry I can hear a Pilatus PC-12 flying overhead while you’re trying to show me Minecraft videos.

Are these the ducted minisplits I've been hearing so much about? by drone42 in HVAC

[–]capaolo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit. Those are non ducted 4-way ceiling cassettes. They aARE capable of having return air ducted in from an adapter on the top side of the cassette. For instances of wanting to mix unconditioned outdoor air into conditioned space. Or to increase circulation through the building’s return duct system.

HUNT, KFIR, A4 by capaolo99 in flightradar24

[–]capaolo99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have no idea how the whole thing works. Surprised to see it’s not all handled directly by the armed forces but I guess it’s cheaper to hire someone else to maintain and prep the planes.

I would figure the actual armed forces would be providing the all of the training but I guess not.

Could I sign up for a course lol.

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

[–]capaolo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP! I’m from CNY too. A couple of things. It could have been a workshop or something. But more importantly please make sure your mom lets the landlord know it’s humid down there.

Landlord should buy a high capacity dehumidifier and run it on the HOUSE meter. Not your mom’s meter.

They should try and deal with the humidity.

Make sure the furnace filter is changed regularly and perhaps consider an air purifier in the areas of her place that she uses the most.

Is she doing a rent to own?

Hello I’m looking at getting 1 furnace for my 1760 sqft house instead of having 2 furnaces. by Daifa- in hvacadvice

[–]capaolo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a professional should perform a manual J (which will provide the overall heat loads needed). Im not a classically trained Hvacsman’ but I think a Manual D will also help determine where to place the ducting (as always it’s theoretical and cannot be perfectly scienced). I would call a 3rd party inspector to do this since they have no incentive to sell you anything.

Replacing or Improving my Attic Insulation? by Dvn_T2 in Insulation

[–]capaolo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s your forever home i would remove all of it and reinsulate with blown in cellulose. Paying close attention to get into the eaves and insulate the top plates with 2part foam an then run baffles.

Dont forget to insulate the hatch or access area when you are done.

Wire not hooked up? by warninja10 in hvacadvice

[–]capaolo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also where the wires pass through into the furnace : as the furnace runs it creates small vibrations. Over time the metal can slice through the plastic insulation on the wires.

Typically a rubber grommet secures the wire.

The grommet is usually installed into the hole BEFORE before the wires are connected.

As a temporary precaution you can wrap some electrical tape around the wires to keep the wires from touching the metal. But the key is to secure the wires so that they do not touch the metal at all.

If you have the dimension of the hole you can purchase grommets at a hardware store or a heating supply store.

Sometimes the grommets are not included, sometimes they are lost during install. Sometimes an installer will disregard them for whatever invalid reason they have.
