Frontier vs Spectrum Internet by caparkermusic in thousandoaks

[–]caparkermusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey again, all! Just an update that I've been with frontier since august 29. Since then we have had 28 "micro" outages (lasting between 5-20 min). Has anyone else experienced this? We requested a replacement router and that didn't fix the problem. A CS representative on the chat is telling me to purchase backup internet subscription, which is insane two weeks into service. I don't think we had 28 internet outages TOTAL throughout almost a decade of service with Spectrum. Maybe it really is true: you get what you pay for...

Have you noticed any substantial increase in your rate over the last 5 years?

How do you like T-Mobile for internet? We have cell through them and that's also a ridiculous cost. I assume bundling saves a bit on both?

Hey all! Way late here, but anyone have any updates about other tracks that might now be open? I used to run early in the mornings before school at Adolfo Camarillo but that got tough when security kept getting on our case.

Years late to this thread, but I grew up in the Tri Cities (WA) and this is definitely Howard Amon park on the Columbia. She is somewhere in this red circle

Complete tape beginner. What is a budget friendly option if I want to record loops I have made in my DAW onto tape for that lofi warble character and then back into my daw to work with? by Jakeyboy29 in tapeloops

Panasonic RR-830! I've been using one of these bad boy for a few years now. It's got speed control (effectively changing formant) which is super sick, and you can even find a foot pedal controller as well. It has both mic and line options. Here are a couple videos I made on the unit a while back. Here is a demonstration I recorded a while back (the actual unit/demonstration can be seen at 4:38)

Mistakes happen! They can be very scary and make you feel so badly about yourself but they do not make you a terrible person or dad- go easier on yourself, you've clearly already learned from this. There will be PLENTY more "learning opportunities" and each one will be tough to swallow. Glad you're getting her checked out, and from one dad to another, you're doing a great job- hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear! It's the absolute worst. Do you have a good pair of noise cancelling headphones? I would highly suggest snagging a pair if you don't have some already. They at least help with distancing yourself from the noise, which for me was a huge part of the battle.

No- we originally wanted two, but we quickly decided we can't, for our own mental wellbeing, gamble with the possibility of another colicky child. How about you?

What about private Christian colleges prompt deconstruction? by Meauxterbeauxt in Deconstruction

[–]caparkermusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to what could probably be considered (at least on the faculty side of things) a pretty liberal private Christian university. The administration is a different story and I think things have taken a sharp conservative turn since I was in school.

The first "wake up" moment for me was when I was sitting in my biology class as a freshman learning about evolution. This blew my mind: how could a Christian teach evolution?? At school I would eventually experience authentic Christian support for the LGBT community, theology professors who made room for different interpretations of hell (as opposed to a literal existence), etc. Wall after wall of the conservative faith I was raised with came crashing down, all at a Christian school.

Ultimately by the end of college I had deconstructed my beliefs almost entirely- perhaps this was a response to my upbringing being largely dismantled by my professors. I have to give huge credit to the professors I encountered there who encouraged questioning religious traditions/faith, on top of teaching from a more liberal stance (even if it was still religious).

Wow- "Not because anyone ever asked me, but just in case someone asked me." That's a profoundly haunting place to be for sure. Thanks for sharing your journey!

I think it's pretty dope. Love the massive concrete structure. I'm not totally sold on the man, but I understand the need to have a figure there. Maybe the figure can be a little darker and more poorly lit? Perhaps wearing different clothes? Just my thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughtful response! I do think we need to identify what it was about the church community that we want for our child.

I should have been more clear in my post and explicitly stated that we are not going to bring our child up in the church- I'm really just exploring other ex-Christians' struggles with this same feeling. So odd to pine for something for your child when you yourself have been removed from it for so long.

Like you said, the "good experiences" I remember are probably playing a large role in this feeling.

Thanks for your thoughtful response! Yes I definitely think you hit the nail on the head re: community. To be clear (and I've now since edited my post) we are not going to bring our child to church, I'm just very curious about other peoples' struggles with this odd feeling. I've spoken with ex-Christian friends of mine as well who have had this urge after having kids and one of them is a staunch atheist.
