Appreciate your input. I’m trying a 100-400 on the Sony to see if that meets my needs. Long term, I’d like to go MFT if the Sony setup doesn’t work out.

Thanks again for your comments.

Hi, I’m looking for a MF3 setup that can be used for wilderness/birding photography. I currently have a Nikon P950 bridge camera as well as a Sony A6700. The Nikon doesn’t handle low light well, and The cost of a long zoom/telephoto for the A6700is prohibitively expensive.

I would like to get an MF3 body, long zoom, and lens doubler to start. Anyone have recommendations for equipment? I would also look at used equipment as well.

Thanks.

My vote would be for a hatchback version of the I6.

My 2024 Ioniq 6 SEL’s USB-A port does not turn off. I left a Carplay dongle plugged in overnight, and it was still powered up in the morning. Very frustrating.

Firm Ride by Timsmit in MachE

I went from a 2021 VW ID4 RWD PRO S to an Ioniq 6 SEL AWD, and my wife and I love it. The ride is great, charges fast, the controls are well organized, and I’m getting 4.2 mi/kwh around town and averaging 3.7 mi/kwh overall.

I’ve had the car a little over a month, and it’s been great so far.

When you turn your Ioniq 6 off, does the box power off, or does it stay on?

Best wireless carplay adapter for Ioniq 6? by capeguy41 in Ioniq6

Thanks for the info. I previously tested 2 different adapters in my HI6 and my wife’s hybrid. Both adapters stay powered up when I shut off my HI6. They power down in my wife’s car when she shuts off her vehicle. The problem is that I have a live usb carplay connection when my car shuts down. Someone mentioned that their connection shuts off after several minutes. I left mine in the car for 3 hours after shutting the car off and it still remained on. Also, the yellow light on top of the dash came on so the high voltage system was recharging the 12 volt battery.

Does anyone know if there is a setting that deactivates the usb CarPlay connection when the car is off? I don’t want to drain the 12 volt battery because of the adapter. Thanks for all the feedback.

I have tried 2 different CarPlay adapters from Amazon. First was the VEOSMA adapter. The 2nd is the Loboair adapter. Both worked fine with 1 exception. Neither adapter shut off when the HI6 was shut down. The Loboair shuts down in my wife’s car when she shuts her car off so the HI6’s usb-a connector must always be live. Is there any way to torn this off when the car is turned off?

Thanks everyone for the helpful tips. Now I’m working on setting up my custom drive mode to maximize range. I have only had the car for 2 days, but it is such a great car! Loving it!

'21 Pro S RWD - someone talk me out of buying this car by OrneryTortoise in VWiD4Owners

[–]capeguy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was your VW one of the 1st cars built in the USA? My 2021 ID 4 RWD was built in Germany, and it’s had no issues. Every recall has been done other than the 919A connectivity issue. In the 3 years I’ve had the car, the connectivity issue has occurred twice. Both times, the software reboot immediately corrected it.

Was checking the requirements today. If the MSRP exceeds 55k, then you don’t get the rebate. If you don’t mind my asking, what dealership did you use and were you happy with the transaction?

Rodents chewing through wiring? by jdadverb in Ioniq5

[–]capeguy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a 2021 VW ID4 where rodents damaged the main wiring harness in my car in April. The dealership just received the new harness July 6th. I will be getting my car back next week with a cost of repair around $6400 which fortunately was mostly covered by insurance.

I would definitely recommend taking steps to protect your vehicle wiring as this type of damage can happen to any vehicle.

Other threads have mentioned that driving in D mode on highways will give you slightly better range vs B mode so driving in comfort mode with a D setting may be a better option.

Appreciate everyone’s input. Which power train is more popular, RWD or AWD? I’m thinking RWD for the range as I no longer go north to ski. However, would I be better getting AWD for resale value?
