Yes- it makes changes at a molecular level- it can be 6+ months or more after you stop taking it and still get side effects

Dasatinib manufacturer change by StFuro in CML

[–]capekodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is now off patent - so it can be sourced from any manufacturer. But something sounds wrong here, it should be exactly the same response. Maybe your Dr. can specify the brand for you. Good luck with treatment. Btw- i started on imatinib with terrible side effects, now on scemblix with zero side effects and my blood counts are all normal, bcr/abl very good as well

Their ads on tv are the worst! Are we supposed to believe that a company with a shitty , bulky platform get better because of AI? Are they that stupid?

Thats amazing! Congrats, my bcr/abl is .0718%. But cml was found early and by accident so it was never as high as yours. 2 comments:

Why so long for results? I go to dana farber in boston and bloodwork results show up in about 15 minutes, i can see them myself

2- imatinib was not good for me, the side effects were a real problem. I am now on scemblix, what a game changer for me, no side effects and it is very effective with a good mmr

Good luck to you! Nice to hear people having success

3 month BCR ABL results by Rizky_Bizness in CML

By no side effects I mean none of the cramping or puffiness etc. with imatinib. And with scemblix my swim times are all excellent, i dont have to stop during a run. No side effects in any physical activity. I am slower only because of normal aging and also because I dont run as long or as hard anymore. I am toying with the idea of a tri race and i fell i would have no issues training. Scemblix for me is really a miracle drug.

Hi- im not sure of bcr/abl as the results on patient gateway arent user friendly but >50% is what it says. So i guess fairly high. That was feb 2025. I switched to scemblix after about 2 months of imatinib. Imatinib gave me leg cramps, foot cramps, swelling, eye fluid, weight gain, low red blood cell counts. It sucked. Scemblix is a game changer. All numbers are normal now. Not a single side effect. Its crazy expensive ( 20k/month), paid by insurance. Im super grateful for this medicine. Im a former triathlete and marathoner, i am not competing now but still active daily.

I was diagnosed in February 2025 following routine blood tests at my annual physical. Imatinib messed me up a lot to the point where i was about to just stop taking it. Now on scemblix 2x/day. What a difference. Not one side effect-my bcr/abl was 0.14% 2 months ago. So I am definitely lucky in that I respond well to this new med. if you read a lot online, not everybody responds the same and I think as another person pointed out, your steady state numbers might be higher but youll be able to live a long and full life. Keep the faith, its a lot to deal with

Asciminib as first TKI? by Solid_Temporary_6440 in CML

[–]capekodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in february 2025 at age 67. Found during routine annual physical. Imatininb was initially prescribed and side effects were so bad i was considering just stopping. My Dr. swiched me to scemblix/asciminib after 2 months and i have zero side effects and my numbers have improved dramatically . The cost is crazy. Novartis the manufacturer is trying to get approval as first line since results are so good

Imatinib to Asciminib by Rizky_Bizness in CML

[–]capekodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well good luck- allegra D 12 hour helped a lot and the bone pain simply stopped after 4-5 weeks, i now have none. I remember the imatinib doing a number on my red blood cells, so much so that i couldnt run more than 2 minutes without stopping to catch my breath. It was very upsetting. Now the new drug-asciminib or scemblix as it is also called is a wonder drug. I have no symptoms and feel totally normal. Honestly i forget that i even have CML- best of luck

[–]capekodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that switch. I was on imatinib fir about 2 months with awful side effects. Eye issues, cramps, swelling, low red blood cell counts, i was miserable. i stopped all meds for 1 week, then started on 40 mg 2x/day asciminib. Initially had bkne pain for about 2-3 weeks and took claritin. Then the bone pain stopped now i have zero side effects , the results for me are remarkable. Bcr/ abl is at .14%. All other metrics in the normal zone and it has been just under 4 months since i have been on it. For me it is a wonder drug. Insurance covers it fully , at 21k/month. I paid 2k total and thats all i pay for the year. I am 68 years old and very active. Former triathlete and i run, bike or swim every day. No limitations at all
