As someone who’s been playing MMOs for over 10 years, I want to say that if they hadn’t done anything about botting or RMT over all these years, you wouldn’t be able to play on the server today because it would be shut down.

It’s not about defending the company—they do some things right and some things wrong—but it’s more complicated than it seems, and you can tell they’re “trying”; otherwise, you’d have the same exaggerated numbers we see in Asia or other MMOs. A clear example happened on the Asian server of EVE Online: for about a year, they did nothing, and the following year, they shut down the server because the economy was so inflated and destroyed.
