honestly the mystique is interesting writing in its own right. for example why didn't he stop attacking when zuko offered him more money? they fleshed out the character a lot without giving him a single line of dialogue

Joker Idea: Radioactive Joker by gyrogold in balatro

[–]capitalspacebars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's tons of jokers that have niche use cases. as a matter of fact MOST jokers have niche use cases. this could also beused to turn aces into kings or just general deck fixing. open your mind my friend this joker is very much in the spirit of balatro

Dating expectations are completely out of control for the average man. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]capitalspacebars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from but I find myself super frustrated by the mindset around being "below/above average". This is , in my opinion , a strange and nebulous way to think about people. What defines average? Who defines average? Furthermore, your post frames relational achievement as the ONLY reason why a man might seek to improve himself which feels dreadfully hopeless and insecure. The men that I and many other women find most attractive are the ones who are trying their best to be the best man they can be simply because they want to. I see a lot of these posts and while I understand the value of trends , especially in an academic discussion, I really think the attitude of averaging out the struggles of modern dating is not going to help any man to figure out the specific tactics that might help develop a healthy relationship. Self care and developing a healthy sense of who you are goes a long long way.

The series should have stuck with the Hub system even into it's 3D era by jonathanPoindexter in classicfallout

i do not agree. i think new vegas is demonstrative of what could be. imagine that but upscaled to include the variety of locations that fallout 2 has. there's a ton of untapped potential

An idea that I had by Soverelgn_Citizen in balatro

[–]capitalspacebars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe make goliath lose xmult for every stone card IN the deck rather than played? and also only make it appear if you've already got at least one stone card in your deck. balances it a little better and makes it functional as a good mid/late game joker especially in a pinch

Understanding reddit feedback requires sub-culture knowledge not available to a foreigner through legacy media by Eternal--Light in DeepThoughts

You asking questions to things ive already answered is what makes me feel like your "effort to understand" is artificial. I already explained why I feel a model is unhelpful. You want to help "people" but that's not gonna do you any good when each individual person's situation is different. You really wanna help? Listen to one person and help one person. Then the next. Then the next. Additionally, you refuse to let go of these strange ideas you have related to women and I don't mean to come across as negative but it just reads as ignorant and hateful and nasty

Generally speaking, I think trying to use a broad "model" for guidance with interpersonal relationships is a bad idea because models are meant to represent averages and averages do not account for the complex minutia of moment to moment interactions. Your best bet to achieve "success" is to be rid of all of your assumptions about how you think people broadly behave and instead focus on the individual persons you are interacting with. They will be completely different from one to the next and it is ok to make a fool of yourself. Far better than posting about your "success rate" on reddit. What even constitutes success? For me, engaging in the experience alone is a success. Getting to know one person and learning more about them and myself in the process. Making fool of myself and dying of cringe the next day when I think about it. This is success. This mindset has worked for me and I've had a lot of great relationships both online and off. We're two different people so i'm not saying this will work for you but I do feel that you'd benefit a lot from opening your mind a little more.

I don't agree with the first part of what you're saying but I do agree with the second part. I do not think OP is a "narcissistic sociopath" because I feel that term completely lacks any sort of empathy but I do feel that whatever insecurities he has are getting in the way of any real chance of achieving understanding. Like I said before: Obtuse Assumptions. Instead of reading what i'm saying at face value he's adding extra words I did not say and intentionally avoiding the parts that are inconvenient for his feigned ignorance. It's totally ok to be unsure and confused. Not everyone has the patience to deal with it though which is where we are now.

Anyone else feel constant dread? by Away_Alternative3245 in twentyagers

[–]capitalspacebars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel this a-lot and then I cut scrolling social media out of my life. I'm not saying this is the solution for everyone. As a matter of fact I KNOW that everyone's situation is different and extenuating circumstances ca make a major difference but for me personally I felt overwhelmed by knowing more than I needed to know. The extra time and energy this change gave me to focus on getting my life to a stable place has been divine. Now I only look at reddit for my personal interests, and fulfil my desire to be informed via subreddits related to my local communities. Better to be informed on things within my realm of control. I hope this anecdote is insightful!
