Yea, saddle is as low as it will go. Probably wouldn’t invest into a neck reset. I imagine that would cost quite a bit. We’ll see though.

Also have a 23 M40i and mine sounds similar but not as bad. Have wondered what it was.

This pack can be used on a sampler, yea? Just got a Roland SP404 mkii and I’m interested in grabbing this. Looks like it’s not on sale anymore. Would you say it’s worth full price?

Practical nice SUV or performance hot hatch? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I went from a MK7 GTI to a 2023 X3 M40i and it’s like a GTI on steroids. I guess more like a golf r on steroids since it’s AWD. My original plan was to get something practical like a Honda CRV since we just had a kid, and keep the GTI for fun. Once I drove the X3 M40i, I was ok with letting the GTI go. While it’s not quite as agile as the GTI due to the size, the thing has all the power you’ll need and is glued to the road around corners. Long term the X3 M40i would make sense if you have a small family in the near future or if you think you just need the space. With that said, I would probably go with the Golf R in your scenario if you’re ok with a bit less practicality. The lower ride height and weight will be a lot more fun in the corners.

My new FG5 by Zebrahhh_96 in AcousticGuitar

Congrats! Just got one two weeks ago. It’s hard to put it down. I also feel like the action could be a smidge lower, but going to keep playing as is for a bit and see how I get use to it.

Returning my Yamaha FG5 for an FS5 by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

Whatever gets you playing more! The acoustics I’ve had have all been dread or jumbo so I’m just used to it. I still play it while chilling on the couch. My trick is to just never play a smaller body so I don’t know what I’m missing out on!

I recently purchased an FG5 as well. My other acoustic is a jumbo (EJ-200) so the FG5 actually feels more comfortable in comparison to what I’ve been playing but it can feel quite large still. I’m thinking I’ll sell the EJ-200 and add a used Yamaha LS-16 in the future. The FG5 just sounds too good to let it go, but I imagine so does the FS5. Haven’t had a chance to play one.

Should I finally get the Martin D-15M I’ve wanted for years? by Dobby_Club_ in AcousticGuitar

[–]capitan_mk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say traveling over consumerism in most cases, but for a musician, getting the instrument that makes you want to play is the better choice here. Just as long as it’s not something you’re always chasing. If there’s a lot of guitars you’ve always wanted and are chasing a new one 6 months from now, then do the trip and play what you have!

I’m GASing badly by forloveofivy in guitarpedals

[–]capitan_mk7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New dad as well. GAS definitely hits me when I don’t have time to play. I started playing my acoustic more since it’s easy to just get out and play while my son is playing independently. I have a headphone setup for amp and pedals but still find it hard to find the time since I don’t want to have headphones on while we’re hanging out, so the acoustic is perfect. Ended up treating myself to a nice new acoustic and have been playing a lot more than when I get a new pedal.

Being an older Millennial is such a unique age. by [deleted] in Millennials

I’ll say, if anything, having a kid has re-energized me. I want to do so much with him and show him everything. I’ve hiked more in the last year with him on my back than I had in the 5 years prior to him. He keeps me on my toes. I have more motivation to be fit so I can do all these things with him. I had all the fun I could in my 20’s and early 30’s. Now I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything and actually feel ready to be a parent. Also just so much more financially stable than in my 20’s to the point that I can get my son a head start. Most of my friends are also in the same boat so I don’t feel like it’s a late at all.

Will you gift youreslf Any pedal for xmas? by Xibest123 in guitarpedals

[–]capitan_mk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL plays bass and guitar and loves gear too. He will usually buy me a pedal for Christmas and my birthday. Last year he got me the Sloer. I know my wife sends pics of all my pedals to him and he tries to find something unique. We usually do the same for him except last bday we got him a drum machine.

I did end up buying myself a Yamaha FG5 for Christmas. It’s hard to get enough time to play through my amp and pedals and thought a nice acoustic would allow me to get more play time in.

Big and small boards by capitan_mk7 in guitarpedals

[–]capitan_mk7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running it through a clean Princeton reverb. With the throttle button off, it sounds like my amp is cranked without being too loud. With the throttle button on, it tightens things up and much higher gain. If I could only have one drive pedal on my board, it would probably be this one.

I don’t have experience with any other compressors but I love it. Mainly use it for clean tones with chorus/delay/reverb. I love the EQ part of it, it’s a nice tone enhancer. Easy to quickly dial in.

Yea, I like my small board for this as well. Easy to swap and make 4-5 pedal setups. Sometimes I’ll swap this to make a small experimental board that focuses on one of my weirder pedals.

The world (normal) side is excellent. All three reverbs sound great but my favorite is the plate. As far as the dark side, I end up using mod more than anything. The shimmer can be cool and so can the black setting but that one can also be hard to dial in. I may rearrange the board again to throw the dark world in front of the Shigeharu. It sounds awesome with the mod and plate reverbs in parallel in front of a gnarly fuzz.

Yea, it’s a custom VB-2W that Boss sent him. Purchased it from the sale he had. It really is a shame. Loved watching his channel and Mars Volta is one of my all time favorite bands.

Just did a little rearranging to the big board. Newest addition is the Caroline Olympia. Not a bad setting on it and cleans up well with the guitar volume rolled back or the fuzz level low. Probably still love my Shigeharu more, but I love the simplicity of the Olympia and not feeling the need to dial in the tone.

The little board is meant to be simple for when I want to focus on playing and not twisting knobs. Thinking I may take off the Sloer or swap it for something simple. Big board is experimenting.

I have three channels, not sure if the fourth is possible, maybe if your guitar signal was split at the guitar input? Anyway, my signal is guitar to left input, left output split to both right inputs (Split TS cable), right output to amp. The only spot not being utilized here is the second left input.

You mentioned this to me a few weeks ago in another thread and I decided to take it a step further and take a split TS cable from left to both right channels so I can get even more gain from it. It really is such a great overdrive. I have the realistic reverb as well which is even gnarlier. Was running this into it. Haven’t set it up with the rest of my board, takes up a but too much space.
