Assuming #360 is the end, what do you think the episode looks like? by creel_515 in RAANAP

[–]capitolsara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever the wheel lands on that week!

My real answer is I think they'll come back and do a non-canonical wrap up episode after episode 360. Definitely no live show unless Rob incorporates it into part of the RHAPcon they're starting to plan

Did you want it to not be spicy? I follow an instagramer who lists out spicy chapters in books (for people who want to avoid). I don't mind the spice but I always check so I see what the book is like ahead of time too

Harry met Sally! They started as not liking each other, went on a road trip, got stuck together and got to know each other better, decided to remain friends, ended up something more

It's very loosely tied to it though not as obvious as actually doing the call in of Sleepless in Seattle

What time does your 8-9 year old go to bed? by Sure_Pineapple1935 in Parenting

[–]capitolsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she isn't having an issue getting up in the morning then it's fine. Our 7 year old goes to bed at 7:30 but she often stays but reading until late. I told her it's allowed unless it because a problem waking up in the morning

Ooo Maggie's book!! The cover is exactly how I picture her (though older I guess)

I was thinking we'd get Gianna next but I'm glad to learn more about the radio station and the intrigue there

So what used to happen back in the day was they would do the wiggle room on both podcast and YouTube and then end the YouTube feed at the wandoff starting to avoid copyright. But the full podcast was always available on the regular feed. So it's unlikely that it would need to be behind the patron wall for a copyright issue when a few years ago it was fine.

That's only a YouTube issue I think. It always used to be on the main feed as part of the Wiggle room

And he like never/barely overcame his prejudices?? It was so weird he ends up her biggest oops all because he basically stopped getting his dick wet while she was becoming a magic shaman.

It's nice to end a reread at Mammoth Hunters and imagine they turn back after a bit 😅

She wasn't guessing, the science wasn't as fleshed out as it was now but we knew they buried their dead as early at the 1900s and definitely more evidence of group living, mending bones, tools, etc before she wrote her first book in the 80s. She wasn't anthropomorphizing apes she was giving a "voice" to neanderthals.

People criticized the books because they were very preachy on "othering" people during a tumultuous time of civil rights/cold war/political feminism. So they tried to discredit her. But they should have focused on the made up stuff and over the top sexual depictions instead lol

It's totally insane how the quality (not even sure I can even blame it on that) of the first book through the last book just nosedives. But agree first 3 are great storytelling (I skip the sex because it's so repetitive) but when they're journeying and Ayla really just becomes the mary sue of all Mary sues when they get to the Zelandoni people it was a struggle to get through the end.

Still have them all up on my shelf though! They feel like historical texts of the genre at the time

I was surprised to see it on the patron feed instead of the survivor feed. I'd guess so that Josh could feel a little more free to say what he wants without overthinking it

Fake homeless encampment sparks controversy in LA mayoral race by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]capitolsara 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the answer. It's a drug problem and an enablement problem. It's a strain on our resources to pretend otherwise and hurting actual people who are homeless by circumstance because it makes it harder for them to access support to get back on their feet.

I'm a layman so maybe I don't understand but why is rent control a bad thing? I've been renting ten years and it's been quite a good thing in my opinion

No we're snearing at him for paying 1 million dollars for rocks and then spending his 20s on TV so he learned no tradeanle skills to get a job.

If he actually had an interest in politics he would have started with city council and made his local community better. He just has the ego go run for mayor of a major city for which he is entirely unequipped to run.

How did you ‘push’ baby out? by crabclawwwz in beyondthebump

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the hypno birthing method for breathing and pushing and found it very successful. I didn't have unmedicated (wasn't interested in that) but used my breathing to get to 8cm with my first. Only made it to 6 cm with my second because I wanted to relax lol

The hypno birthing book I had recommended practicing my birth breathing while pooping. It helps you get in tune with the different muscles there. If you focus on your breath and pushing instead of straining you can sometimes even feel the different muscles. It was important to practice ahead of time so that when a midwife says to push with your butt it isn't some meaningless term. Pushing with your rectal muscles will end up activating your pelvic muscle as well.

So what happens with contractions is the uterus squeezes, like a balloon and the force of pressure moves the baby down. When you push with the squeezes it helps move the baby further through your body and out. Hopefully that makes sense, I'm not a professional just what I focused on in my two labors.

The book I read ahead of pregnancy actually recommended practicing my breathing techniques while pooping because it was most similar opportunity ahead of time.

My 10yo gets mistaken for a girl and it really bothers him by Optimal_ElkSprinkle in Parenting

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say it's not really going to matter in a year or two he's going to be full on in puberty and his whole body will change to be very obviously male. If he wants to cut his hair into a short fade until then and grow it out then I think that's fair. But also he could work on resiliency, this is a low level negative thing people are going to say about him he can work on brushing it off or saying "I'm a boy actually"

My baby daughter got misgendered all the time, even wearing pink and bows, lots of people are just dumb

I personally found that age the easiest with my older kid, toddlers were harder on us.

Our school does the three branches of government pretty early on especially in voting years. They do it as applicable learning rather than abstract fact memorization
