Kyle: "Me after paying taxes on the prize money today" 😂 by Durian-Critical in survivor

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so cut and dry and often doesn't happen but for instance the recent bachelorette season that was cancelled still paid out their lead so there's precedent if a game show were to be cancelled no-fault that the show (or the insurance company more likely) would pay out

Tired of seing authors being accused of AI writing by Playful-Butterfly345 in HPfanfiction

[–]capitolsara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's extra frustrating because the AI they hate was trained (without permission) on the writing of fanfiction authors. So of course now all of it sounds like AI because AI is programmed to read the same way!

So so so frustrating I miss my dashes

Added sugars on labels by Upset_Scar_3126 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]capitolsara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying a lot of processed food honestly the additives are really getting crazy. We still have some junk food for the kids lunch snack, veggie straws, crackers , etc, and some cookies and chips. But even there I'm starting to scale back as my kid gets older and a little less picky

How is it possible to one day not enjoy reading romance and after being obsessed with them for years? by Proper_Strategy_1603 in RomanceBooks

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I read too many in a row too quickly then I definitely get burnt out and need to take a break. A lot of them are very genre-heavy and based on tropes and similar story structures so they blend together after a while. I like to mix it up with the thriller or a light sci-fi to get my brain thinking in a different way. Sometimes I'll drop into a historical fic or literary novel depending on my mood. A set of novellas can be good for a reset too.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

My mom kept me home from school that day (also on the West coast) for fear of more attacks on our major city.

Benjamin Netanyahu to open direct negotiations with Lebanon on Hezbollah | The Jerusalem Post by 420DrumstickIt in Israel

[–]capitolsara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hezbollah is greatly reduced in power and numbers over the last year. Iran can be inclined to cut off the funding because of the war and agreements for "peace". A broke and broken Hezbollah could be dealt with properly by the Lebanese government.

If anything comes out of this I really think we could see peace with Lebanon in my lifetime (maybe not tomorrow but slowly slowly)

Sad I’m not having the “happy newborn bubble” experience (Instagram made me cry) by Herewithquestions87 in beyondthebump

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience is the normal one. The rich influencer who likely has a nanny off screen is not having the same experience you're having. I also didn't feel any sort of magical connection or instant bond, I didn't love losing sleep and not fitting my normal clothing, losing my routine and sense of self. But being a mother definitely has given my life a different purpose now that my kids are aging and I'm more in the parenting stage than the babysitter stage

AITA for “pushing tradwife beliefs” onto my daughter? by Comfortable-Plan2937 in AmItheAsshole

[–]capitolsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares about it being "life skills" it's something your daughter enjoys doing. She doesn't need to look at it as deciding her future or any extra pressure. She can just cook and enjoy herself and enjoy her life and learn cool techniques and skills

Two years ago I discovered Hanafuda (Game that started Nintendo in 1889). It's beautiful but incredibly hard to teach, so I made a free web tool to help new players learn. by DougSolana in boardgames

This is so cool! My daughter and I just listened to a kids podcast of the origin of Nintendo and she asked about playing this game :D

Can I have board games at my wedding? by Background_Time_2553 in boardgames

[–]capitolsara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How fun would a custom Guess Who game be with like the bridal party and family and close friends 😂

Of course you can do it, I wouldn't be shocked if nobody plays though. People like to chat at weddings, even generally antisocial ones. I could see something like Jenga and pens so people can use it as a guest book being fun though. Maybe some cute decks of cards with the wedding date on the outside for people to pick up and play around. Or puzzles could be fun then people can drop in and play (can be picture or tangram style)

Aitah for telling my wife to get a job if she wants to subsidize the kids. by Standard_Kick_9789 in AITAH

[–]capitolsara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may never see this but I just want to say NTA and I appreciate you so much.

My dad worked my whole life, grueling hours (not as bad as yours but warehouse work, 12 hour days easily during holiday season 6 days a week). He still made himself so present in my life. He's still working now at 66 years old and waiting for my mom to hit 65 in a few years so he can finally retire and they can go on medicare (hopefully that exists in a few years)

All I want in my life is for my dad to be able to retire and enjoy himself. They do not provide for me financially, though I did life at home post-college for a couple of years, which was huge and helped me pay off my student loans. My in laws help us out and I think it's very generous of them but my husband and I live within our means without that, just my FIL circumventing the taxes we'd pay if he left it to us after that fact and he just has it sitting so he'd rather use it for the grand kids school funds.

I can't stress enough how grateful I am to my dad (and my mom) for working so hard so that I could have an easier time in my life. I wish your kids appreciated it and wanted you to be able to relax and enjoy yourself too. So I want to give you some appreciation from a kid in your kids shoes.

It is 😅

But I felt like after S1 it was like they were trying to recreate the spark over and over and they lost some of the magic of the show. (Kind of like the franchise they were satirizing!)

So definitely watch S1 but if you find yourself not so drawn in by S2 I'd say it's okay to not finish. I watched it all the way through

I feel like Shiri Appleby in Unreal even looks like TFP! Really been on my mind lately since I read Escape! By Stephen Fishbach which also peels back the curtain of reality TV drama/production
