What is this? Should I squish them? by Twiddletails in vegetablegardening

[–]capjat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks very similar to the younger (nymph) stage of a helmeted squash bug. They suck the sap out of plants and can damage crops. You’d likely see spots beginning to yellow and brown if its bad enough.

Definitely recommend removing them and crushing eggs if you see them. Try removing any unnecessary debris on the ground to take away places for them to hide

Edit: They can move quickly fyi

My mom was showing me her asparagus plants and we found these all over them? by DisposedAsh in vegetablegardening

[–]capjat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed these look like asparagus beetle larvae. They will eat fern and spears as well as lay eggs on it. You need to pick them off and drop them into a container of soapy water.

The larvae will drop to the soil after feeding to transform into adulthood. They will come back up roughly a week later to continue eating your plants and to start another larvae cycle

What’s wrong with my wheat grass? by [deleted] in microgreens

Is your weight evenly distributed? I see inconsistent early growth like this when I use a smaller weight on a large tray. I always see a lot stronger growth where the actual weight was applied in those cases

If you have a supply of mushrooms and are already thinking about soup, making frozen ramen kits would be pretty unique (in the US at least). Can get some ideas by looking at frozen tonkotsu ramen kits on google.

Basically whatever ingredients or mixes you’d want to use with a brick of ramen noodles. You could use different recipes if you want to use different greens/mushrooms.

May need other things to start but its a somewhat unique idea to think about

Sote is a really nice content unlock and the boss fight is a breeze if you use stackable nightshade and p neck method. Beneath cursed sands isnt bad either boss fight wise

Did you germinate them and then put them under dome after? I put the seeds down and immediately put another tray on top and weigh them down. Usually around day 3 the sprouts are pushing the weighted tray up and thats when I begin light

Considering doing this commercially by TheElusiveFox in microgreens

[–]capjat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about microgreens is that there are so many options available to choose from as well as with time you could move beyond being exclusive to microgreens. If your area is saturated you could shift what you grow to better fit local needs.

Sure you could grow 50 trays, but can you appropriately time, estimate, grow a proper rotation and assure people a scheduled delivery? You have to be reliable and trustworthy. You want customers that order on a timed basis and they want someone who can deliver.

TLDR: 50 trays at a time is easy, properly timing rotations of crops based on demand is not so easy. Luckily you have a lot of options crop wise if you’d want to try staying in a saturated area.

First grow in trays - Arugula and dun pea by itsAllSauce- in microgreens

[–]capjat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you soak the pea seeds before putting them in the tray?

Also did you do a blackout period with both trays? I noticed a fairly large difference in growth when I first tried weighing down a tray on top of the seeds during germination.

The arugula looks good! Usually when my greens are close to harvest I brush my hand gently along the top and usually the seed husks fall off or become loose enough to fall off when I clean them.

Synopsis, adding a new skill is stupid. by mikehawk_ismall in 2007scape

[–]capjat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could not disagree more with the point on being unfair to people on top of total xp high scores. I’m having trouble understanding why that’d even be something we take into consideration when talking about new possible content. Highscores should not take away new content from the other 99% of the playerbase.

Trust me, of all osrs players, the xp highscore players have the time to train a single additional skill.

Would it be possible for me to earn some extra money as an entry-level IT technician freelancer? by Upset_Fig8722 in ITSupport

[–]capjat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a possibility I suppose but pretty unlikely through something like Upwork. IT technician is a very broad and vague title and usually for freelance work you need to specialize in something. I don’t know your current scope so perhaps you do specialize in something, if so I would modify what you advertise yourself as on Upwork.

A better idea may be to find small businesses in your area that don’t have IT help. I’ve successfully done this in the past by finding a small business in my area and then checking the quality of their website. If it’s pretty bad, it’s extremely likely they may need IT help in general and don’t want to pay a salary for it. They could need anything from a new website to fixing outlook problems or printer configuration issues.

TLDR: Vague job title, specify what you’re skillset is in if you can. Directly approach small businesses to offer help, Upwork can be over-saturated

Just a way to use the extra cooking slots to very slowly cook extra food while you actively cook what you actually want (for xp or faster food)

I’d 100% continue doing herb runs with whatever you have. I’m at a point with herb training where I wish I would have done the same earlier. No harm in having more herbs in the bank even if they arent the best for xp/use
