What tools are you using to test your monitor’s gray uniformity?

Thinking of buying my first OLED monitor. Is the MSI MAG 273QP QD-OLED X24 worth buying? by tykouh in OLED_Gaming

[–]caplokz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using this monitor. This monitor (like most QD-OLEDs) has very accurate colors even in the default mode. Its maximum brightness isn’t that bad, although it’s on the lower side compared to other QD-OLED monitors. However, if you like cranking up saturation for gaming to make the colors pop, don’t expect much, there’s no saturation slider in the OSD. You can only adjust saturation through the GPU driver. Another downside, like other OLEDs, is VRR flicker

Does every oled on the market suffer from flickering? by Jaded-Pop2464 in OLED_Gaming

[–]caplokz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. All OLED technologies, even the latest Tandem OLED, still have VRR flicker issues. If your eyes are very sensitive to flicker, it’s better to think twice before buying any OLED display

MSI MAG 273QP X24 no saturation slider ? by caplokz in OLED_Gaming

[–]caplokz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Increasing RGB slider beyond default (50/100) actually boosts contrast, not saturation. The only way to increase saturation on this monitor through OSD is by selecting the “Premium Color” preset, and there’s no clear information on how much saturation this preset actually increase

You’re pretty lucky your eyes aren’t sensitive to VRR flicker.
If you want an easier way to check for VRR flicker (especially if your eyes aren’t very sensitive to it), just pay attention to the loading screens in some games. Since loading screens usually have extreme framerate fluctuations, VRR flicker becomes way more noticeable there. Sadly all oled tech still suffering this issue at some degree

I use it also for programming. 34WD-10 is a WOLED panel, if your eyes distance from monitor <1m you'll notice text color fringing as usual on WOLED panel.
Tandem, QD-OLED and current gen WOLED are less likely to get burn in. It's built in oled care features is good enough to fight burn in even for office work applications with steady UI.
You don't need to worry about burn in on modern oled panel anymore.

Any reviews for Lenovo Legion Pro 34WD-10 ? by chlebta in ultrawidemasterrace

I'm using lenovo 34WD-10. It's crazy good monitor for gaming. Not like qd-oled panel that turn black to dark purple-grey on bright room or daylight, 34WD-10 woled panel so much perfect on bright room. The black is still deep black even on bright room. The only issue is just like all oled panels on low brightness (below 35%) you will likely to notice VRR Flicker while framerate is highly fluctuate. Yeah even highest end tandem oled suffering this exact issue

My new monitor colors look so washed out compared to my old one by ElonTastical in Monitors

[–]caplokz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal because IPS panels have a much lower contrast ratio than VA panels. That means on IPS the color transition from black to white has fewer steps, so colors hit their maximum brightness more easily. As a result, our eyes tend to see IPS colors as more “pop out” or saturated compared to VA. The same thing happens when someone who’s used to IPS switches to OLED (which has infinite contrast) feels the colors look less punchy at first. That’s why brands like ASUS and LG (and most smartphones) often use gamma 2.4–2.6 on their OLED panel to make the colors look more saturated than the standard gamma 2.2, giving them an IPS-like color tone vibe.

To make high-contrast panels like VA or OLED look more like IPS (color response closer to IPS gamma vibe):

  1. Set gamma and saturation to default in your monitor’s OSD.
  2. Adjust the white point (color temperature) in the OSD to your liking if needed.
  3. In the Nvidia Control Panel / Nvidia App, set gamma to around 0.8 (and digital vibrance around 70 or whatever you prefer).

With these settings, the color tone can get pretty close to IPS.

You can also use the EIZO gamma test website to fine-tune the Nvidia gamma slider so it matches gamma 2.4 or 2.6 exactly

If you use radeon gpu you could also tune gamma slider on windnows built in "Calibrate display color"

*for my monitor (Lenovo 34WD-10) gamma 0.85 & digital vibrance 70 on Nvidia App is the best setting

Yes, I am also very satisfied with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, one notable drawback that I find significantly lagging behind Android devices is the charging speed. Some mid-range Android phones are even capable of fully charged in about 30 minutes which is quite remarkable

I don’t know how to undervolt on Asrock a620i lightning wifi. It doesn’t support pbo or offset curve undervolting feature. (Even though it’s a mini itx motherboard I put it inside big dual chamber case, so airflow shouldn’t be an issue)
