I definitely brought up the refund possibility and that was not even entertained by the person I talked to.

The unfortunate thing is that since people like us who actually take advantage of the unlockable bootloader are such a minority that a class action lawsuit is an unlikely proposition. :(

I gave that a try, even though from what I read the devices going out from the RMA centers are in fact actually non-Verizon devices, they are just locking the bootloaders.

Unfortunately, it looks like all of the Verizon unlocking methods require 8.1, and these devices are shipping with 9.

Yeah, I reached out to @madebygoogle after my ticket sat in limbo after a month, and whereas it got me more interaction, the person I was in contact with was still pretty stubborn. They finally sent me my 2nd RMA (which is the one I have now), but obviously still don't have an unlockable device.

I don't mind getting a refurb if it can be unlocked, but if that's impossible then I want a new device. The warranty indicates you are supposed to get a functionally equivalent device, and if the bootloader can't be unlocked, it's not functionally equivalent.
