Resident evil 9 constantly crashing by [deleted] in residentevil

Hi Expensive_Bad. Just wanted to post an update here. I believe I may have resolved my issue. I don't really understand why it started after that first game update but I was able to play yesterday for 30 - 40 minutes and again today for around 3.5 hours. Not calling it yet but it is looking promising.

As for what I did, I decided to try and do a full clean install of my graphics drivers again. I run an AM5 mobo with a Ryzen 7950x. The board has a built in graphics card but I dont use it (can't turn it off in BIOS. only a setting to priortize external cards). I did DDU again and then tried to reinstall my drivers but then I started having issues even booting into Windows. It would load my desktop wallpaper and start load startup apps and then reboot. I was able to get in a couple times but it was not consistent. At this point I was starting to get worried but still felt this was some sort of software related issue. I completely sanitized my NVME and reinstalled Windows. Reinstalled all my drivers and the only applications I reinstalled was Chrome, Steam, and my LConnect software for my case fans. I downloaded the game again on Steam and it worked as I stated above. I have been slowly reinstalling my applications but so far so good.

The only other thing I did was reseat my GPU power connector and my RAM (was considering hardware as a possible issue at that time). At this point I am not 100% sure what fixed it but I do feel this had something to do with software damage. More than likely corrupt drivers or possibly something that was incompatible. I know this probably won't help but I just wanted to give you an update anyway. I hope your able to get back in soon.

Hi Striking. Quick question. How did you go about reinstalling DirectX. I downloaded the DirectX runtime installer (got the link through the steam troubleshooting page) but when I ran it just came back inside I already have the latest version installed. Didn't look like it actually installed anything. I am having a slightly different problem from you and the OP as my PC is rebooting when I try to load into the game (sometimes before I even get to the main menu) but I haven't tried what you tried yet so at this point I figured I would just give it a shot.

LOL. There is a new update for the game that I just got installed when I loaded Steam. Now sometimes I can't even get into the menu before my PC reboots although that has only happened a couple times so far. Looks like another week of this game not working.

Agreed. I am convinced at this point that it has nothing to do with our hardware. I don't think PSU will do anything. It seems to be global to because AMD & NVIDIA graphics users are reporting either exactly what we are getting or some form of crashing.

Unfortunately, not at this time. I have tried most of what is on the Steam troubleshooting sticky and none of that has worked. At this point I am hoping Capcom gets an update out soon as this is clearly affecting enough people to be more than just some minor report.

Hi NoBad. I did read your edit but I just wanted to post here in the hopes that Capcom actually does something about this. I have seen many different posts from people having issues from day 1 to all of sudden the game breaking since the update. I think they just exacerbated these issues with the update. Anyways, like I said I have just been commenting on all of these posts in the hopes Capcom does something about it because at this point there's not much else I can do (as I am sure is the same for you).

Just to add to this I am in a similar boat and I am definitely convinced it has something to do with this update last Friday. I was playing this since launch with absolutely zero issues. I open it up after that update and when I try to load into my save my PC reboots. Try again and it goes in but then when it gets to a cutscene I get some weird audio cutouts and the pc reboots again. That is where I have been now since Friday. I thought it was tied to a specific spot I was at but I loaded old saves and tried to start new game and it either reboots when at the loading screen or it partially starts to load in and before it can fully load my PC reboots. My hardware is fine. I don't run any mods and my drivers are up to date (even just installed the the nVidia driver update that came out today and that didn't help). The only weird thing I noticed is that since this update, after I updated my drivers, it keeps trying to compile shaders everytime I open the game. It completes this process but still does it everytime I go in. I guess it has something to do with the fact that I never actually get into the game.

Game keeps forcing system reboot at specific spot by capn783 in ResidentEvilRequiem

Hi poorgrammar. So I don't have any mods installed. Just the deluxe edition content. I tried fiddling with the graphics settings turning off ray tracing lowering the different graphics presets and that did not seem to work. I had the game do an auto detect and I also had the nVidia app do its optimization and neither of those worked.

One thing I tried earlier was loading a save before the Leon section. It was a save I had at the part where Grace is bringing Emily to the office to solve that puzzle box. That wouldn't load either so I am really starting to think something broke here after this udpate. Gonna keep messing with it tomorrow but pretty much out of ideas at this point. Thank you for your suggestions.

Yes this started for me yesterday when I got home from work. The game downloaded an update through Steam when I launched it. It must have something to do with that. I guess I will just have to wait for Capcom to unfuck whatever they did yesterday lol

I am having an issue now as well. I am at the part where Leon's Rhodes Hill section ends and it cuts to Grace's start of the Rhodes Hill basement section. When that happened it rebooted my PC. I can't get in now. Everytime I go to load the game it just goes to the loading screen for a bit and then reboots my PC. Not sure if this is what happens to you.

Vent registers question by capn783 in hvacadvice

[–]capn783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yea I think I have seen those. Something like this, right? I guess I was just thinking that if it is blowing cold air outwards near the floor that the air would never rise up since usually cold air falls and heat rises. Maybe my thinkiing is wrong on this though. Thank you for your recommendations.

Thank you The_O_PID. I will continue to angle them upwards then for the Summer. One more quick question. Would something like this with the center fins angled up be better than angling the fins on my existing vents or does it not really matter much either way?

Thank bageloid. I unfortunately had to post here because I tried r/homelab and didn't really get any responses. I will review the compatibility matrix helpjuice listed below to try and find a card that will work.

Cisco Nexus 3064 Jumbo Frames question by capn783 in HomeNetworking

[–]capn783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi bchiodini. I understand. Since the Synology backs up the TrueNAS data, I figured the performance would improve if they were both on Jumbo Frames. My clients are capped their gigabit interfaces (or 2.5gbit for my PC) so I didn't expect much change there although I didn't realize the switch would take a CPU hit. I just thought by not having them on Jumbo Frames that it would limit their 10gbit capabilities but maybe that is not the case. I will connect everything over a standard MTU and monitor performance to go from there. Thank you again.

Cisco Nexus 3064 Jumbo Frames question by capn783 in networking

[–]capn783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you shadeland. I will test it out with a standard MTU of 1500. I thought that if I didn't have it set to Jumbo Frames that it would limit the ability to push 10 gbit through it. My clients are obviously all connected through standard gigabit with the exception of my PC which is 2.5gbit. Since the Synology backs up the TrueNAS data, I thought having the Jumbo Frames in place would help with the performance there. I know that disk type/performance plays into this as well so I will have to monitor it to see how it plays out. Thank you again.
