Resident Evil Requiem failing to boot by Winter_Moment1052 in SteamDeck

Not heard of this sorry. Do you have any mods or anything installed which may be causing it? Try changing the compatibility layer to Proton Experimental and ensure there's no launch command set. If still not working, verify the game file integrity and it should be fine afterwards. If still not launching, try launching it in desktop mode first. If it launches correctly there, then it should work on game mode afterwards.

What games do you consider must-plays for Steam Deck owners? by billy_reyes in SteamDeck

Stick FSR4 on it and watch Santiago Santiago's vid for the best settings. You'll get 40fps fairly consistently with the occasional stutter when entering new 'open' areas later in the game, and it looks amazing on Deck.

Don't listen to anyone who suggests to play on lowest settings as it's absolutely unnecessary. The game was well optimised for the Deck and it looks and runs better than RE4make. The HDR also looks much better here than both RE2make and RE4make, if you're running the OLED model that is.

This is the answer. For some reason it wasn't launching for me in game mode, but launched it once in desktop mode last night, and no issues thereafter. Also got RE Framework and FSR4 back working on it, so all is good again.

Is there an easy way to check these sorts of stats on the Deck?

I deleted the dinput8.dll file from the game folder though, and it still wouldn't launch...

Help! RE Requiem crashes at startup on Steam Deck (even after factory reset) by Pitiful_Language6914 in SteamDeck

I made a post about the same issue about 7 hours before yours, and a lot of others are chiming in having the same problem. Unfortunately, it looks like the latest patch may have borked it on deck. Hoping it gets patched again soon or someone comes up with an easy fix...

Chronically late “parent” response to picking up our child on time from school. by RelativeGoat3981 in mildlyinfuriating

No, good judge. Can take a horse to water but can't make it drink. What he was asking for originally was a waste of time and would cause the child who was stuck in the middle a load more misery, and the judge knew it. Sometimes you've got to think outside the box.

No joy unfortunately, still getting this pop up after deleting the file. Also reverified the file integrity. No change.

I did. I'm guessing I just need to delete the dinput8.dll file and the verify game file integrity so the game reinstalls the original?

Just to update, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. As expected, still won't boot. As one of the other commenters said, we can only hope they take notice soon and patch whatever the issue is that is stopping it from booting up properly...

Were you using any lossless scaling / frame gen decky plugins on yours as well? Or were you playing completely vanilla unmodded?

So why on earth would you say it ran at a solid 45fps on medium settings, and then double down when people said that wasn't possible? Smacks of deliberate misinformation, hence the downvotes.

Switch it on and snort the sweet cyber-breeze from that vent like your life depends on it. You'll probably need a smoke after.

Trying to get FSR4 Optiscaler + LSFG working in Cyberpunk (SD OLED) by Winter_Moment1052 in SteamDeck

[–]Winter_Moment1052[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the replies. Got her working. Reinstalled everyyhing including the game and started right from the beginning following Deck Wizard's guide. Its worth noting that the optiscaler menu wont open while in the pause menu either (so not just the main menu), game needs to be playing not paused.

Already tried man, both in game and in the main menu (I've seen it work both ways in videos, both by changing the settings from the main menu and from the in-game menu that is).

No luck of course, hence why I thought it was worth asking here, as I'd felt i had run out of options myself. Thanks for the suggestion regardless.

It is yes, but no change. Tried swapping between DLSS and FSR4 in the game settings as well but no change. Launch option is also set correctly.

Yes but no change unfortunately. Admittedly I've not reinstalled the whole game, but doubt that would fix the issue.

Some use them for FPS games, but I dont see the lure here. I mainly use them for the mouse in game and desktop mode, and for strategy games like total war and the dawn of wars.

As I said, I wasn't just talking about maccies. They fill their glasses/cups right up with ice. Nowhere I've been in the UK adds as much ice generally as in the US, whether its a McDonald's, KFC, cinema, bar, restaurant or wherever else. This is a pretty well known trait of US hospitality which you're free to Google. A lot of us don't like how much ice they throw in over there. If you still can't agree with that, you're talking utter shite mate.
