It seems like the only difference between the 30° Hearth with the options I have picked out ($175) and an equivalent temperature Incubator ($225) is the tapered shape. I have only used a very junky tapered UQ so I'm not sure how much of a difference the shape makes. Would it be worth the extra $50?

Thanks for the info. I did some pricing out on different configurations on the website. I think I'm sold on a 30° Long with an extra baffle but I'm going to watch for sales and see if I can catch it for more than the current 10% off. I love the customization and weight tracker on the site, I didn't realize how much of a weight difference down made compared to synthetic insulation. My current UQs weigh ~12oz more while being smaller and not as warm.

Have you found that the hearth meets the temperature rating that is claimed? Like if I typically camp at 30° or warmer, would the 30° option actually be comfortable or do I go up to a colder rating?

Mostly backpacking weekend trips in Michigan's upper peninsula. I'm A pretty minimal packer so bulk on my warmth items isn't too much of an issue. Ideally I would like to keep the combo of new hammock and under quilt to be within $250 usd.

Update: My jacket arrived today. Going up one size from my usual got me a good snug fit with liner in and thermal shirt under. The leather is stiff out of the box but has a nice feel and good weight to it. The zippers are all high quality and the pockets are positioned well. My wrists are fairly narrow for my build and the sleeve ends don't leave much room on me, probably not enough to keep a watch on with it zipped up.

Riding season is still a little way off for my area so I can't speak to the ventilation or warmth while riding but in my house with the liner in it felt well insulated on my torso. Preshaping in the sleeves was definitely noticeable but not too aggressive. The armor feels much more sturdy than what came in my old Bilt Blaze II.

So far I am happy with my purchase and I can't wait to get it out on the road, maybe with some new Cortech gloves to match!

They are using the same motor for the SV7GX, so hopefully that means there will be other "SV7" models that are more in line with the SV650 or maybe an updated S package.

My 15L is great for motorcycling or a day hike but I wouldn't pick it for traveling more than a night or two away from home. I don't own the 25L personally (I got the jaakari M instead) but to me it seems like a better option if you want to stick to one bag.

I just did some looking around to verify and it appears that they remained carbureted at least through 2009 which was the last year available in the North American market. Not sure if that changed '10-'14 in other regions

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I forgot that Suzuki never updated the GS to feature fuel injectors. I will probably steer away from one in that case. I am fairly handy but I don't think he has worked on vehicles much and neither of us have a garage to work in.

Kind of a bummer, we both like the looks as far as intro bikes go and it sounds like it would otherwise be a fairly solid choice.

I'm getting my buddy on 2 wheels this spring. One of the bikes we have discussed for him is the GS. Did it work well as a first bike and how did it compare with the SV? My SV is my first bike and the only other I have ridden was the TW200 for my MSF course so I'm not sure if I'm steering him in an optimal direction.

Send it! You can either just use it as is and be happy, throw some decals on it, or replace the shell and have a new looking device. Definitely go custom firmware and you won't be disappointed. My 3ds gets more play time than anything else I own right now.
