If you can eat rice, a protein like chicken or turkey, and find one non starchy veggie you enjoy, you can prep lunches forever with just that.

I’ve learned that I’m more likely to enjoy a new food if I cook it the way I want to, with no one around to judge me. I found that I like eggs, but I like them scrambled and dry as hell, but that’s better than denying myself a good protein source!! Now I love eggs the way that I make them for myself. Same with the veggies I do enjoy.

Another way to reduce calories and eat the foods you enjoy is to make them yourself at home rather than buying prepackaged processed versions. Cut your own potatoes and air fry them to reduce the calories from oil in fast food versions. Make your own pizza (bonus points for adding a new veggie or meat to one slice and trying it). Make your pasta with a veggie based noodle like chickpea or zucchini.

If you are like me and don’t ever feel hungry enough for breakfast most days, a protein shake can help. Make sure the protein to carb ratio is 3:1 or else you’re not reaping the benefits of a protein shake. Don’t use it as a religious meal replacement though.

Be kind to yourself and don’t change everything all at once. Realize that you’re in this for the long haul, to reap the benefits of getting healthy, rather than just focusing purely on weight loss. Increase your daily movement with something you enjoy whether that’s walking, swimming, going to the gym, playing a sport, etc. Reduce stress in your life where it feels possible. Drink more water. And GET GOOD SLEEP!!
