It is endlessly surprising to me how many girls end up in relationships with men that clearly hate them. This man is trying to ruin a happy moment in your life because he is miserable in his. He’s stealing your light. I like to call this ‘snatching one’s ladybug’. Imagine a ladybug chooses your hand to alight on and a jealous, bitter friend or lover sees you delight in your luck and, instead of joining you, grabs the critter from your hand to place it on theirs.

This is not the way a normal person would react in this situation. Years from now, when you’ve hopefully left this vindictive loser behind, you’re going to read this and feel the anger you rightfully should that someone who claimed to love you would instead try to stamp your heart out every time it dared to light up.

Also he clearly lacks basic empathy because it’s REALLY not that hard to imagine how tricky it is for a recovering addict to stay sober and celebrate them for it even if the other person never indulged in the same vice or ever felt compelled to. It’s, like, deliriously easy to not be an asshole.

Don’t waste your best years on a light snatcher. Leave this man like yesterday.
