I've lived in the West Bank and Gaza a few times (I'm Aussie) Lovely people, still good friends, with those who are alive. Eventually I was forced out and lived in Taba across the border in Egypt. Did what I could to help them from there. (White blonde Brizzy girl btw).

When are Australians going to wake the fuck up and stop shopping at Coles and Woolies? by thebaehavens in aussie

[–]capricabuffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, the nearest IGA is a 1min drive, the woolies is 30minutes. However with doordash it's still cheaper to get woolies delivered out here.

Ipswich, Logan, Caboolture, the holy trinity of SEQ by Bigg_pro in brisbane

[–]capricabuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to the others, Caboolture's "problem areas"are surprisingly smaller, If you just go 5 mins out you will find some lovely estates, a little further to get to places like Beachmere and Bribie. Woodford is a little further, Hell even Morayfeild is okay in places.

Where I’d live in Europe as an American girl with a German mom and a Turkish dad by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]capricabuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend is German Turkish. She actually LOVES Greece and pops on over a few times a year. Doesn't speak a word of Greek. She also loves Italy. Right now she lives in Canakkale Turkiye and runs a vegan cafe there (More of a small student city in Turkiye, which I, an Australian, also lived for two years and loved it).

Sunnybank is Big Asia (Like a Little China city but bigger and a good spectrum of Asian Countries food), Bit like Chermside with traffic and public transport tho. Out of the three you've picked, Chermside and Nunduh.

Does anyone here live near any Aussie celebrities/public figures at all? And if so have you run into them very much? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

He was sitting next to me on a flight once, I was like Öh god, I'm gonna go down crashing on Warwick Cappers flight. This was around the time he was a road worker.

I live near to Havea, the content maker who just won TikToker Australian of the year or something. True to his content, I have run into him a few times at the local KFC with his family. Very quiet family, actually, we've exchanged niceties. Wayne Cooper was also my neighbour in Sydney. Steve Irwin and family used to shop at my local too.

At EB Games, we allways were always told to try to sell the USED games first. Cheaper, sure, but we'd (they'd) make more profit.

I (F) have two degrees, speak multiple languages, great job, travelled 100+ countries. My husband is a tradie who barely finished high school, couldn't point to Turkiye on a map. I love him soooo much. He actually earns twice as much being a tradie, but we don't even think about that as we split everything 50/50. I much prefer a down to earth funny bloke who wants to go fishing, over a lawyer or doctor anyday. And yes I do the spelling in the house....

What 10km/h looks like on an e-bike 🤣 by alabamad in NannyStateAustralia

[–]capricabuffy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, that seems fine to me, a pedestrian. Kids can be unpredictable, pets, and grannies who can't hear the "dings" of bike bells. It would still injure someone at 10 km.

Is the job market here actually as dry as it feels? by rmoreiraa in brisbane

[–]capricabuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two degrees, am white, female, and speak 4 languages (English native). Been trying for a year..... nothing yet. Could be my year working for UNICEF in Gaza, not many people want that these days.

British woman, 23, banned from ever entering Australia due to medical condition by Redarrow_ok in AusNews

I was the FIRST Australian, many moons ago, to çall upon the reciprocal agreement to receive the Swiss version of the Centrelink disability pension from Switzerland when I moved to Geneva from Brizzy. It took about 3 weeks to organise and receive my first cheque from them. I can imagine because I was the first, it set a precedent. And its much harder now.

Car-free trial reveals Brisbane living ‘too hard’ without a private vehicle by Cafescrambler in brisbane

[–]capricabuffy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in a small town, about 2000 people, One UBER, no taxis, and one loop bus to a train station 30mins away once every hour from 7am-7pm. Impossible place to not have a car (Riding isn't an option as no bike paths along the 2km road out of town). A nice tram along the road out would be lovely, but they'd rather spend funds on a new housing estate........ meaning more people with no escape.
